Paid Members JNLister Posted February 6, 2021 Paid Members Posted February 6, 2021 This week's WrestleMe was doing WrestleMania 33(?) and they talked about Charlotte vs Sasha Banks vs Bayley vs Nia Jax in an elimination match and it was the first time that even with the discussion I had absolutely no memory of the match happening.
CL Punk Posted February 6, 2021 Posted February 6, 2021 Surely, this year's is Wrestlemania: Clerks. As there have been thirty-seven of them, in a row...and some of them have sucked.
The King of Old School Posted February 6, 2021 Posted February 6, 2021 Wrestlemania 30 (maybe 31) for me was the last genuinely good Mania, good matches, shock moments. Not everybody was crammed onto the card in meaningless matches. Since then, whilst there have been some really good matches and decent moments they all just blur into one, to be honest I put that down to the fact they have all been 7 hours long since then. Wrestlemania should be the biggest and best event of the year, where all the matches mean something. Its just become a huge long, boring mess in recent years and I genuinely can't fathom why they would go back to a one night event after this year.

Brings to mind a match I’ve easily forgotten - Roode vs Rusev vs Nakamura vs Randy Orton for the US title. What a use of a top tier star like Orton at a WrestleMania.
Paid Members DCW Posted February 6, 2021 Paid Members Posted February 6, 2021 Lost track after the Mania that went Hollywood, I want to say Mania 21. 18 was Toronto & Rock/Hogan. 19 Seattle with Brock/Kurt, 20 is MSG & the RIP main events & 21 was LA with HHH and Big Dave. Couldn't reliably tell you where or who featured in any Mania main event after that, except for 30 with Bryan's main events in New Orleans. Mad, I just found WWE less interesting from that period and stopped watching Raw/SD religiously, so the info isn't seared into my brain via commentary, promos and ads like before.

Paid Members air_raid Posted February 6, 2021 Author Paid Members Posted February 6, 2021 Just now, MVP RULZ said: Wasnt Jinder in that match? I think he actually won the title as well Probably. Maybe the year Nakamura wrestled AJ if Jinder was coming off losing (ugh) the WWE title.
AVM Posted February 6, 2021 Posted February 6, 2021 WM28 was the last one to me that really felt like a mega event. They spent a year building Rock vs. Cena and in Miami it felt like a massive deal. Billboards everywhere for it. I would love them to do the same for Rock vs. Reigns at WM38.

Someone put a video up of Royal Rumble championship matches since 2010, and it was weird how few people have changed status in that time. That match sounds like exactly at the level he should be - mixing it up with people who need a step up to the main event. Or are you saying Randy Orton hasn't had enough shots at the main event to prove himself?
Paid Members air_raid Posted February 7, 2021 Author Paid Members Posted February 7, 2021 Orton is a big name. Big enough that he was recently WWE Champion again. He should be worth having a story that merits a singles blow off at Mania, not clumsily thrown into a forgettable four way for a midcard title nobody cares about.
Paid Members LaGoosh Posted February 7, 2021 Paid Members Posted February 7, 2021 Has Orton ever had a good high profile singles match at Wrestlemania? None spring to mind.

Paid Members Supremo Posted February 7, 2021 Paid Members Posted February 7, 2021 Has anyone ever gone back and watched Nakamura vs. AJ Styles at Wrestlemania? I wonder if it’s as bad a match watched isolation, rather than fourteen hours into the show.
