Inspired by @gmoney.

I picked up a PSVR two years ago after playing a mate's and loved it. For me the best things on PSVR are:

* Superhot - great way to use the VR immersively where your body movements control the flow of time. Throwing stuff and using weapons as shields is so much fun.

* Star Wars Battlefront VR Mission - note I haven't got Squadrons. I don't really intend to because PVP doesn't interest me at all. A PROPER Star Wars simulator, absolutely exhilirating.

* Resident Evil 7 - absolutely terrifying. Couldn't play it for extended periods because it's just so scary in VR.

This is an open church though. Oculus, PSVR, VIVE, whatever.

Has anyone tried the VR Half-life game? Until now I haven't read up on it in case it made me want to buy one.

Yes, it's great and you should get a headset just to play it.

As fun as the games are, I honestly think watching wrestling in a big fake cinema has been the most surprisingly enjoyable. People screen stuff publicly in different rooms as well, the other day I watched Dial M For Murder 3D while sat next to someone in a viking helmet (not the fascist guy who stormed the Capitol building the other day I hope)

We should do a screening of something.

AstroBot Rescue Mission on PSVR is this generation's best platform game by a country mile, and that's from someone who got their dreams of a Spyro 1 and Medievil Remaster come true. Not only is it an outstanding platform in terms of level design, controls and music, but the use of VR effects in most of the levels and boss fights is inspired. It's very generous in terms of length too, which a lot of VR games suffer from.
If you've ever enjoyed a Mario or Crash Bandicoot game, this is an excellent cross between both and you owe it to yourself to play it.

No Man's Sky is breathtaking in PSVR too, so I can only imagine the PCVR is even better. The controls are sometimes a little iffy, especially flying, but it makes up for it with the best exploration I've ever done in a game. Navigating between randomly generated planets full of different biomes and life, while making stops at space stations and learning alien languages and upgrading my ship really left me stunned when I first played it. It's to this day the only PSVR game I've spent several hours on in a single sitting without realising.

I'll echo the love for Superhot VR which works as both an excellent shooter/puzzle game and accidental exercise game. I just wish there was more of it! Another great one that gets you a workout is Knockout League which is essentially Mike Tyson's Punchout in VR form. A boxing game with very cartoon elements, where every fight has a specific pattern and weakness. Feels very retro.

Moss is a short but fun puzzle/hack n slash style game. I heard a lot of people compare it to Zelda but honestly aside from the fact you have a sword and there's puzzles, the similarities end there. Some of the platforming is challenging but the combat is a dull affair. Definitely worth picking up cheap but as with most VR games it leaves you wanting more.

Blood and Truth was OK, nothing special and left me someone annoyed by the unrealised potential. You feel that if it wasn't hindered by the PSVR camera it would have been great but I spent so much time faffing on with realigning myself every five minutes I never fully settled with it. Feels like a Call of Duty campaign if it was set in England.

Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes is a brilliant multiplayer game where the VR-wearer can see a randomly generated bomb covered in dials, wires and switches and the other players can see a bomb defusing manual on the TV and have to relay instructions to defuse the bomb in time. It's of the school of Overcooked where it starts with good intentions and quickly escalates into a confused panic as the time runs down and everyone shouts at each other.

Statik is a creative puzzle game where your hands are trapped in a puzzle box and you have to use the buttons on the Dualshock to move all the bells and whistles on the in-game trap to escape it. It's like Portal x SAW but without the gore. Again, not a huge length but it's not expensive and definitely worth the price of admission if you like creative puzzle games with a unique atmosphere.

Tethered is a decent world-building puzzle/sim game where you're a god in control of these little Lemmings type creatures and have to set them onto certain tasks to build your city up. It's cute, challenging and the controls work pretty well. If want a light sim game similar to a Populous or Lemmings style puzzle game it's definitely worth looking into.

A few disappointments on PSVR for me were Rec Room, which has almost unlimited potential but unfortunately got filled with kids pretty fast, and the setting to not matchmake with kids doesn't work because the kids all put their age as adults so they can access everything. I got an hilarious lobby of Pictionary with a group of people once though.
Some more are Arizona Sunshine which was a decent zombie game riddled with janky camera issues, Farpoint which is a decent space shooter riddled with janky camera issues and Firewall Zero Hour which is an excellent Rainbow Six Seige-style team shooter that was absolutely rendered useless by shite matchmaking and no single player missions.

I haven't played my PSVR in around a year now as we moved and never unpacked it back in March, then got a dog. Now it's a little more settled I might dig it out though. I really want to try Tetris, and apparently Minecraft got full PSVR support which I imagine is a time-sink. I'll keep an eye on this thread for recommendations too.

EDIT: As gmoney mentioned above too, watching the WWE Network on the big cinema screen on PSVR was a joy too. I'd put headphones on, lay down on the sofa and watch old WWF stuff and it was really cool, though sadly PSVR just has a big screen with no proper cinema or multiplayer viewing.

Forgot about Moss! Lovely little puzzle adventure and yes, pick it up on sale as it's on the short side.

Ah.

Reminds me of when I lived in flats and the Polish lad I'd made friends with across the hall asked if he could borrow the VR to try it out. I wasn't using it so thought sure yeah, then he returned it a week later telling me all the porn he'd watched on it while his wife was out. Gave it a very thorough clean afterwards.

I jumped on PSVR a few months ago after seeing a can't miss Amazon Germany offer pop up on HUKD, it came to about £170-odd with five games included, because it came in in "damaged packaging" (there was like a few raggedy inches of cardboard at the top of the box), I wish I could buy everything with this discount for this kind of "defect"! Astro Bot and Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners were both wonderful experiences that felt like something from the future. I held off on playing much more waiting for the PS5 improvement. There's loads I want to get through soon, I know I'll love Blood and Truth and if the Hitman trilogy coming soon translates to VR as half as good as it sounds that could be a killer app.

I really like the look of the Quest 2, but all the talk of needing a "properly maintained" Facebook account and people losing access to games they've paid for otherwise has put me off.

Slightly off, because you can’t do this at home, but hopefully The Void re-open post pandemic. They only had a pop up over here for Star Wars: Secrets of The Empire which was a prequel to Rogue One, but it was the best VR experience I’ve ever had. They have rooms where the floor has pads or something to mimic the surface of the ship/planet. It was fantastic.

really want a PSVR but waiting for a sale on them again. Had a look on eBay with the 20% off promo they are having but the prices were raised to compensate
