That was the only one that was jumping out at me while reading the previous page. Fifteen whole years ago, bloody hell! And it might've worked as a Mania-worthy match if they hadn't done the Legacy handicap variant of Rhodes & Ted Jr vs Orton at the previous PPV.

Do you know what, I hate the Triple Threat idea so much I'd chuck Drew McIntyre in and try and talk him down from the ledge over his frustration with his Mania booking.

Get the tag titles off DIY for a Punk/Roman two man power trip, do them v Rollins/McIntyre or something...

They didn’t. The previous PPV was Elimination Chamber, Orton and Ted were both in a chamber match.

Drat, was this that period when there was more than one PPV between the Rumble and Mania, or did they do the handicap match on free TV? 

Yup, checking Cagematch it appears it was the latter, they just gave it away on an episode of Raw. Which means I take back what I said - even that match wasn't an example of a compelling reason to do a triple threat at WM. Soz, Raidy.

Penta had another match. Does he always, in every match, require his opponent to sell that corner kick by slumping to their arse in the corner so he can do the handstand dropkick spot? Shite. Not interested in a Kaiser/Dunne alliance though was interested to see Kaiser in his post match attack use the same move Alexa would win with on SmackDown. Hmm.

The quicker they realize Charlotte is not likeable and decide to never book her as a face again, the better. Although smug as she is, I still think she carries herself like someone who’s been told she’s the best whereas Ripley walks like she believes she’s the best.

Rey is still worth watching, even in a random tag. Watching Kofi perform Trouble In Paradise reminded me Tozawa ended up using it mid match on SmackDown - do they not care about this kind of stuff like they did in the days of Billy Kidman and Paul London?

Sky vs Morgan was far better than I expected and the best women’s match I’ve seen for a while - Liv has improved lots since I last watched her. I tutted at her receiving a German suplex on the floor when the finish was not imminent, they could do without normalising spots like that. They continue to tease Ripley vs Sky even though Io won’t be in the Chamber which means either Rhea loses the title before Mania (not bloody likely) or the match happens before Mania rather than at it, as I’d hoped. Nuts.

Rollins looks like a fucking clown. I’m ashamed how much I enjoyed his parts of Mania 40, he’s making me not care about a CM PUNK storyline. Shambles.

I hate the proposed Seth/Roman/Punk Triple Threat even more than I hated the proposed Rock/Roman match at this time last year.

Is this going to become a February staple? Where we shit up the far more obvious, exciting Wrestlemania matches? I don’t even know what hashtag/chant we can do to save it? #FuckOffSeth?

Jey Uso choosing Gunther to a white hot reaction reminded me of Becky Lynch’s promo on Ronda the night after winning the Rumble. Absolute magic. Nothing short of incredible how excited I am for a match I completely skipped when it headlined Saturday Night’s Main Event a few weeks ago. Yeet!

Unfortunately, two hours later, CM Punk also reminded me of Becky Lynch in 2019, but it was that part a few weeks later, when she was being crowned-barred into a doomed Triple Threat match that was nowhere near as exciting as the more obvious Singles match could be. Saddled with an over-pushed, company-favoured whopper, dragging everything down to their level.

Maybe I’ve got Punk Derangement Syndrome, but with each passing week, as the card starts to shape up, I swear you can feel Punk’s Main Event dreams slowly fade away. There was one man on this show who felt like he was closing Night 1 and it was the Yeetmeister General. Even the way Punk was talking about how happy he is for Jey Uso, there was a real sense of, “I’m not mad. Please don’t put in the newspaper that I’m mad.”

Still hoping I’m wrong. Still hoping Punk wins the Chamber and we get Punk vs. Cody, Seth vs. Roman, Jey vs. Gunther and Cena vs. Logan Paul. Quite funny how everyone was originally disgusted at the idea of Cena vs. Logan and now it’s the one match I’m praying for in order for everything else to fall into place.

I don’t think it’s happening though. It was really obvious how Michael Cole suddenly shouted that Logan Paul ALSO ELIMINATED AJ STYLES IN THE RUMBLE. Might as well have just put an immediate graphic up announcing Logan vs. AJ for Mania. Seems more and more likely it’s Cody vs. Cena, Logan vs. AJ, Jey vs. Gunther and Triple Threat of Roman, Punk and Seth, “ah, fuck off,” Rollins.

In other news, Punk’s hair has reached its final form. A full-on Vince-McMahon, mid-90s bouffant. Insanely distracting. Maybe that’s his ticket out of the Seth Rollins vortex. Hair vs. Hair against John Cena.

As someone who barely reads anything outside of here, mostly to keep what little sanity i have left - what's the general consensus on Seth away from here?

I've always assumed that he's actually very over and people in general do like him, which would be the only logical reason why he keeps ending up in all these situations.

He doesn't seem to have crowds that aren't interested or that turn on him.

Just wondering if it's an us problem..

Couldn't agree more.

At least with The Rock last year, had they followed through with their original terrible plan we'd have ended up with something meaty and substantial.

This is just flimsy, weak shite. Like a horrific throwback to the very worst of the 10 hour Wrestlemanias where everyone got on the card as a thank you for the hard work that year. Only they're doing it with actual main event level talent, just to shoehorn in Seth Rollins.

Even if you don't subscribe to my belief that Seth is utterly unwatchable shite 99% of the time, you've still got Punk/Roman who are 2 of their genuine top, top stars and you're diluting them with a guy who simply isn't on their level. Its absolutely needless. Chuck HIM in with Logan Paul or something.

Cody v Cena, Punk v Roman. Two absolute banger Wrestlemania main events right there and it's all gone to pot for bloody Seth Rollins.

Watch Punk's triceps fly into the crowd and this be his last match, too.

I've always quite fancied this as the Mania match to be honest. Think it gets huge eyeballs on it.

Cena for me doesn't need to go for the WWE title at Mania, you have all year to get there. Have Cena eliminate Paul at EC and Paul clock Cena one like he did Orton last year allowing someone else to pin Cena. Punk/Rollins can be the final two with Punk winning again.

I'd 100% go with the line up you suggested, folk cry about Rollins but I think him and Roman makes a huge match for Mania with loads of history to play off.

Punk/Roman at Summerslam for the WWE Title.

Rollins is the absolute worst, but I'd 100% prefer Rollins/Roman as a 1 v 1 compared to the shite 'just lob them all in' triple threat.

Not because of its history, I don't really care about that. For the majority of their history I was convinced Ambrose was the talented one so whatever. I just don't think we need both Roman and Punk adrift in Mania season.

If Rollins brings back the double murder stomp, I might even watch the match. Maybe.
