All I can think about is tyres and energy drink as that canvas distracts me every time I try to watch. Dunno mate, too busy trying to figure out if the MGM on MGM Grand is the same MGM as the one I know or it's like MSG and Madison Square Garden being two different things, see how easy it is to lose focus. It's not that I'd find it too distracting, I just think it looks completely rank and I've never enjoyed the aesthetic much. In wrestling, I don't mind a sponsor, but when it's some bald cunts stupid beer, Ric Flair's emoji being all over AEW or that absolutely idiotic Prime hydration station, they just feel naff as fuck to me. But I'm not taking the money for it either. Edited January 6, 2025 by Chili Quote
Paid Members Lion_of_the_Midlands Posted January 6, 2025 Paid Members Posted January 6, 2025 I agree that aesthetically they look like dog dirt but some people appear to be clutching their pearls at the very notion of having advertising anywhere on the sacred canvas. Quote
NeverYield Posted January 6, 2025 Posted January 6, 2025 The cold Open video for RAW was smashing I thought, Triple Hs narration summed things up perfectly for me. Quote

That’s definitely for the better. Segments that are dying can go home early. Segments that catch fire don’t need to be rushed. And it’ll be a huge benefit if main events don’t have to conclude precisely on the hour. It’s always a bit of a buzzkill when you know exactly when the finish is coming. Every false finish suddenly has a million times more drama. Whisper of Raw being three and a half hours. I take it all back. Fuck that. Quote
d-d-d-dAz Posted January 6, 2025 Posted January 6, 2025 I get the feeling that they're going to do something mad. Austin returning to challenge Punk, Rock doing something wild and unexpected, Hulk Hogan doing something stupid; it's got all the hallmarks of them wanting to do 'something' that everyone and their dog is talking about tomorrow. Providing it doesn't involve Seth Rollins, I'm game. Quote

AndyUK Posted January 6, 2025 Posted January 6, 2025 Gonna bite the bullet and stay up for this one I reckon, despite the apparent 3 and a half hour run time! The no adverts thing internationally is brilliant, hate how you miss half a match these days and was especially annoying during SNME a few weeks back when it was a PPV like card. No need to worry about that tonight. Quote
Paid Members Lorne Malvo Posted January 6, 2025 Paid Members Posted January 6, 2025 The 'no adverts internationally' thing fills me with dread. It will just be the same Wrestlemania or 2k25 or whatever advert about 7 times a show in place of other adverts, won't it. Other than during the actual matches where you'll get to see Orton stick a chinlock on for 4 minutes. I liked the intro video though! Quote

If Rock/Roman does happen, and Cody is destined for Orton or KO... could Cena turn heel on Punk to close the show? I'd never really considered it before, but they're arguably each other's biggest rival, it'd be a huge deal, the promos would probably light the entire place on fire. They could callback to 2011, as everyone is so fond of doing, and talk about Cena's simmering resentment that in his final year he has to share the stage with the prick who tried to pull HIS company (being the guy at the time) down around his ankles. DavidB6937 Posted January 6, 2025 Posted January 6, 2025 They'd definitely be smart to do a big closing angle. They've got enough hype tonight but they need to keep it going and hook viewers in for next time. It's the perfect time to do something unexpected so I'm curious what they go with if anything. Quote

They are never going to turn Cena heel on his last year before he retires and hangs it up for good. The amount of money they will be making on merch this year with him isn't something they will loose IMO. I've been saying it all day but apparently I'm correct and Roman Vs solo is opening the show with cm punk Vs Seth Rollins main eventing. It makes sense and is the only option with Roman being on the card but not on last. They can't have it sandwiched in the middle with the cinematic elements and how big it's going to be but what a phenomenal start I'm so excited 40/45 minute match with Roman winning then the rock coming out immediately after, quite possibly the greatest start to any raw or smackdown ever. I'm slightly disappointed there having that prick Hogan involved after the stuff surrounding him it just doesn't feel necessary bar giving a name from that era for New or returning viewers Quote
Paid Members FLips Posted January 6, 2025 Paid Members Posted January 6, 2025 Love the cold open. I really don’t mind the hokey video packages, as has been pointed out they’ve done them forever. Quote
