Paid Members FLips Posted yesterday at 07:02 AM Paid Members Posted yesterday at 07:02 AM I’ve tried multiple times to watch Ghostbusters II and I never finish it. Incredibly boring film, to the point it has me second guessing if the first was even good (it is). Quote
Paid Members LaGoosh Posted yesterday at 07:09 AM Paid Members Posted yesterday at 07:09 AM Yeah I wonder if I hadn't seen it as a kid I'll reckon I probably wouldn't like it. Quote

It's a brilliant film. Do you know what, I meant fucking Scream 7. I don't know why I thought it was called Seven 7 🙃 Seven is obviously awesome. Quote
Paid Members Lorne Malvo Posted yesterday at 08:28 AM Paid Members Posted yesterday at 08:28 AM Sod you all, I prefer Ghostbusters II to the first one. Although I've never been massively keen on the first Ghostbusters. Weirdly, there's a whole bunch of 80s crowd-pleasers that just don't do anything for me - see also The Goonies, Coming To America, Lethal Weapon. Quote

Murtagh's "I'm too old for this shit" hits different these days. What once was a comical throwaway now aches deep in my heart. Danny Glover was only in his early 40s when that came out! Quote
Paid Members gmoney Posted yesterday at 09:47 AM Paid Members Posted yesterday at 09:47 AM (edited) Volcano Sad proof that you can't just put Tommy Lee Jones in a film and have him make it good. Truly stupid and boring. Shouldn't be called Volcano, but Slow Moving Lava. Deep Cover Laurence Fishbourne might have been the coolest looking guy in the world in 1992. I loved this. Got it's problems. The plot is a mess by the end and you're asked to believe that Jeff Goldblum is a psychotic hardcase because he's slicked his hair back, but he's so good in the first two thirds as a coked up bent lawyer that it's a net positive performance, Very stylish, Larry F in fine form. Not sure how I've never seen this, I used to listen to the Dre and Snoop track from the soundtrack all the time. Timerider: The Adventure of Lyle Swann A man on a motorbike is accidentally transported back in time to the old west, and ends up becoming his own great-granddad. I think? I was certain this was a cheap Back to the Future knock off, but was stunned to learn that this came out a full three years before it. Despite the cool premise, this isn't great. The main character is so fucking dumb that he never realises he's time travelled for the entire film. Edited yesterday at 12:59 PM by gmoney Quote
wordsfromlee Posted yesterday at 10:35 AM Posted yesterday at 10:35 AM I was well into Ghostbusters when I was a kid, but the sequel scared the shit out of me. I was absolutely terrified of the pink ooze coming out of the taps as well as the painting coming to life and going into it. Quote
Paid Members johnnyboy Posted yesterday at 02:07 PM Paid Members Posted yesterday at 02:07 PM New Ali G On Prime included tier 5 days after theatrical release. Doesn't really work in today's political climate. I'm not sure you can make a satire out of people who are apparently happy to kill a baby even if you preface it with Voltaire's absurdities and attrocities. The one actual comedic bit is in the end credits and is quite funny so save yourself 90 minutes and skip to that. Quote
Paid Members Jazzy G Posted yesterday at 03:01 PM Paid Members Posted yesterday at 03:01 PM I saw Ghostbusters 2 at the cinema when it came out, and I don't think I've seen it once since. I've seen the first one plenty of times. It's a classic. I used to have a little "book of the film" novella type book of Ghostbusters 2 as well. Really easy read. I think I was about 8 at the time? It's no Back To The Future 2, is it? Quote
Paid Members gmoney Posted yesterday at 03:06 PM Paid Members Posted yesterday at 03:06 PM (edited) I've not watched either in 20 years probably, but as a kid both of them were equal in my mind. I love the evil painting dude, the slime, Ally McBeal fella from the second one. I suppose if I had to put a mark against 2, Dan Ackroyd doesn't get his cock sucked in it (that we know of). Mr_Danger Posted yesterday at 04:52 PM Posted yesterday at 04:52 PM For all its faults this shit scarred me more than Chucky, Freddie, Jason, the Nightbreed things, the Cenobites and is probably on a par with that scene in The Exorcist 3 for things that fucked me up as a kid. Quote
Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted yesterday at 05:07 PM Paid Members Posted yesterday at 05:07 PM Ghostbusters 2 is nowhere near as good as the original but that's because it was a thankless task following it. It's alright. Quote
Members SuperBacon Posted yesterday at 05:25 PM Members Posted yesterday at 05:25 PM Yeah, it's still a solid 7/10, I just didn't enjoy it as much this time as I usually do. Tell you what though, Janine in II? Yes please. Quote

(Probably the first time that sentence has ever been written.) Quote

I’m assuming they must’ve put some money into producing it, because surely they haven’t ponied up the dough to have it as some kind of exclusive so soon Quote
