Paid Members BomberPat Posted May 28 Paid Members Posted May 28 Picked up Dorfromantik and 9 Kings on Steam yesterday, and can see myself losing a lot of time to both of them. Dorfromantik is a kind of board game thing, where you get a stack of tiles representing different types of scenery (grassland, forest, crops, river, railway, etc.) and have to place them, getting more tiles for matching scenery in the right way. It's very relaxing, and one of those games that you could play for five minutes or five hours. 9 Kings I have heard compared to Balatro. It's tower defence, but also it's a deckbuilder, and also kind of roguelike, if I'm understanding what that genre is properly. You have a base, you build up troops, but have a limited amount of space and money to spend on troops and reinforcements, and have to defend against waves of attacks from other "Kings", who each have different kinds of units. It sounds simple and complicated at the same time, and while it's not all immediately clear how the game progresses, actually playing it is pretty intuitive. I can see it getting addictive. Mostly, I'm still on Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Something like 60 hours in, and still in Gongaga. Just a ridiculously massive game. Quote

It’s a game that’s a major edit away from being one of my favourite ever. I love all the optional side stuff, but it’s the padding in the main quest that puts me off ever replaying it. Some of the dungeons are long to the point that I almost gave up on the game at several points. It’s not even a question of difficulty, they’re easy enough - just tedious. I still like the game, I just hope they tighten it up a bit for part 3. Quote

Only started playing it tonight so done the first mission and the opening but it's gorgeous, plays incredibly well and I'm pretty sure I'm going to devour it in a few days. Quote

It's like a puzzle game but not a puzzle game. Somebody saw Catan and thought "I can make it cosy" Quote
Paid Members Jesse Posted May 29 Paid Members Posted May 29 Wrapped the vast majority of Forza Horizon 6 this week (won all races, cleared all side content, found all the collectibles). It has a bunch of annoying problems (can't browse people's tunings at race start, AI at the higher levels are mental) but it's just a blast to bomb around Japan and unlock hundreds of cars. I'm taking a small break from it but dipping back in for an hour each day for the weekly content and multiplayer stuff - the hide and seek mode is a blast and their eliminator mode is back and good fun again. Also finished Assassin's Creed Black Flag which is the pinnacle of that style of AC game but is still way too bloated if you want to get everything. The game would be vastly improved with a world and collectible set around half the size but they only seem to get bigger from here. Going to give Freedom Cry a go before I flip back to my next Resi game. Quote

Been getting some extremely positive reviews. I've seen it described as if Legend of Zelda: Links Awakening was influenced by Dark Souls. Extremely difficult game however (unlike FromSoft) there are many, many accessibility options. Quote

I absolutely hate this trend in games, the idea of it creating a ‘sense of exploration’ and is immersive. Maybe it is for some, but I wish it were an optional thing. I find it very easy to get lost in games like that, I don’t have time to develop the kind of knowledge of the world I need to know where I’m going and not get lost really quickly. Quote

Posted May 29 Author Posted May 29 (edited) Got Starfield on PS5 and played through the first couple of missions, then realised it’s taken up all of my system space, wasn’t really getting into it either so uninstalled and gone straight to the end of the backlog. Other then that I’ve been playing Neverness to Everness it’s a free to play Zenless Zone Zero clone, tons of fun plus I was wary of buying 007: First Light as I’m not a hitman fan but it looks fun I guess and I’m a Lennie James mark.
