I don't buy for a second that between 1993 and 1996 the Kliq were going all out every night either, there was almost no point doing too much and getting hurt. This attitude from Wrestlers (usually in the USA) always surprises me, and from fans who buy into it. If you look around the globe a bit more to Japan or even the UK those "busting your ass" matches are saved for when the cameras a rolling. I think the Japanese call it having a red light match. From what I gather even in New Japan when it's just your run of the mill house show they certainly do hold back and take it easier. The same used to be true in the UK to some extent, Jonny Storm would happily give you a spot fest filled match if you went to an FWA or IPW:UK show where its being filmed for DVD or TV (on occasion) but pop to see him at an All Star or Premier show and he was always a lot slower paced and verging on comedy. I once watched him vs Zack Sabre Jr at a Premier show in Bournemouth. Before the bell rung I was hyped for a really hard hitting bout which we didn't get of course, what we did get was a fun old school style match with some decent comedy thrown in. Everyone from the 90s and earlier has a āthe house show matches were even better, we went two hours and the people were going crazy for itā story. The Kliq love it, theyāll tell you Shawn and Razor were wrestling each other on house shows every night for three years before their ladder match (which happened less than a year after Razor turned babyface).
