Glad that in universe a year later all the kids are still listening to club banger Niamos!

And very much enjoyed the Ibiza remix at the wedding:

Man, I loved that whole dance sequence so much. Incredible music and visuals. But also it was a deeply sad scene. Seeing the closed up Mon Mothma, just for a moment, try to escape the miserable prison her life has become through revelry was pretty heartbreaking. She's living a lie, in a loveless marriage to a complete cunt, selling off her own daughter to the son of a gangster and dooming her to her own loveless marriage, being blackmailed by her closest childhood friend and then finding out he's about to be murdered all for the rebellion. Crazy how they've made a minor role from Return of the Jedi into probably the most complex and interesting character in the entire saga.

And cutting back and forth between the rich partying it up to one of the thousands/millions of cruelties, misery and murder the Empire is inflicting on the little people daily.

This show is incredible.

Saw Revenge of the Sith in the cinema this afternoon. It is a 60% crap film but the 40% is really good and I can't pass up an opportunity to see it in glorious big-o-vision.

The whole opening scene of Kenobi and Skywalker rescuing Palpatine is shit. The setup makes no sense, the dialogue is atrocious and acting embarrassing. The 'two people talking' blocking drives me insane. Once someone points out to you how many shots there are of lightsabers clanging to the floor you can't unsee it. Anytime Natalie Portman appears I do this face ? with how bad she is acting. The Utapau / Grevious nonsense is exactly that.

But once Sam Jackson starts swaggering into Palps' office we are off. Ian McDiarmid goes full ham, the tone goes jet black, and the action looks great on the big screen. Vast majority of the effects holds up. Once the twin suns are in sight I start acting like big Dwayne and slapping my forearm to see off the goose flesh.

Amazing how much of this film has become a meme.

General Grievous opening up his coat of lightsabers like Papa Lazarou hawking pegs is my "Chicken Jockey."

Hello there.

Did you ever hear the tragedy...

High ground.

Sith lord?

Dewit.

Some kids actually did shout 'chicken jockey' when the Star Wars logo appeared. They didn't like me shouting back at them to shut up.

Why did they shout that? Brain Rot is real with these idiot kids.

The movie isn't bad at all. Its mindless fun with as you say, a dark tone that takes you by surprise.

I think we might be getting a Perrin face turn before the end.....

My favourite thing about Revenge of the Sith is how about 75% of it is scenes that open on the characters just walking nowhere in particular in silence then they will start explaining the plot to eachother. Lucas is a maniac.

Humble Bundle are offering a 35-book bundle called The Essential Star Wars Insider Collection. It's up to you to decide how much you want to pay, as long as it's at least £14.04. (There are smaller bundles for less, including two books for £0.78.) Some of the proceeds will be used to support a (US) charity which gives new books and educational resources to children in need.

Quote

The definitive Star Wars publication bundle. Since 1987, Star Wars Insider has been the definitive source for all things Star Wars and we’re pleased to offer our members exclusive access to The Essential Star Wars Insider Collection! Go behind-the-scenes of your favorite Star Wars movies and TV shows--including all three trilogies and the standalone films Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Solo: A Star Wars Story--and TV epics including The Clone Wars and The Mandalorian. These volumes are packed with cast and crew interviews, concept art and photography from the Lucasfilm Archives. There's even fiction from the first phase of The High Republic publishing initiative, written by New York Times bestselling authors Justina Ireland, Cavan Scott, and Charles Soule. This bundle is your essential companion to nearly 50 years of Star Wars. Become one with The Force and help support First Book with your purchase!

You'll need to create an account on kobo.com before purchasing: that's where you'll be able to save and read the epubs. Once you pay, Humble will give you a redemption code and a link to the appropriate page on kobo.com.

An important note if you like the idea of the charity benefitting from this: by default, it gets a tiny proportion. I think it was £0.78 of the minimum £14.04 when I was about to check out. The bulk was going to Humble, with the rest going to the publisher. The button Adjust donation on the original Bundle page allows you to configure who gets what from your donation. (Humble will always get a chunk; you can set the publisher or the charity all the way to zero if you choose.)

Thanks for that @Ronnie!

I was disappointed by the first batch of Andor episodes - maybe my expectations were just too high but there were elements that didn't work for me.

No such disappointment with episodes 4-6. I loved them and it's exactly what I wanted from Andor. Proper WW2 French Resistance style, espionage, extreme tension created by unscrewing something, brilliant character work, wonderful locations, everything feeling like building and developing what had come before. Exceptional stuff.
