Ironic Indie Lad Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Listened to a few legal experts explain how this might go. They seem to think the rape charge will be on the lower end of the harm and culpability scale but that it will still result in a sentence of 6-9 years. Apparently a rule of thumb is: If the sentence is >5 years, you serve around 2/3 of it. If the sentence is <5 years, you serve around 1/2 of it. Given the above and given the fact there are also 3 sexual assault charges to factor in, It's hard to imagine him being inside for any less than 4-5 years in my (completely uneducated) opinion. That's obviously more than enough time for the currently ongoing investigations to conclude, more complainants to come forward etc. He genuinely could be going away for a very long time. Was in the supermarket this morning and had a glance at the front of the papers for the first time in ages. Genuinely LOL'd at the Daily Maily headline of "Downfall of the swaggering sex predator FAWNED OVER BY THE LEFT". Maybe the 5 most unnecessary words in any headline I have ever seen. Quote

Plus, if you really had to politicise this, the only honest way to do that would be to hold to account the people who defended him after the allegations emerged - the far right and religious right; his left wing audience ditched him when it became clear he wasn't what he claimed to be and he knew he had to - quite literally - sing from another hymn sheet. Of course - and they know that perfectly well, which is why they felt the need to add that "fawned over by the Left" bullshit. The fact they considered it essential to point it out damns them more than if they'd left it alone. "Every accusation is a confession" and all that. Quote

His was an interesting grift in so much as he was basically espousing positive Christian beliefs and mindsets to a right wing crowd hoping they’d take him in but never fully committing to the hatred and bile side. I could be wrong and over the last few years maybe he slipped more in to that role but I was under the impression that the right never fully embraced him as he was basically portraying a leftist hippy character. So maybe right wing grifter isn’t entirely accurate, unlike the terms rapist and abuser. Quote

Browser Brady Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago He was doing video podcasts with his wife during the trial. A very odd scene. Quote
deathrey Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago (edited) I didn't listen to the podcast but have seen quotes from it on articles, what a bizarre thing to do when you are on trial! Grifting till the last second. Edited 3 hours ago by deathrey Quote
