Basically the story of an autistic boy, his struggles with life, family and being touched. It has one more show at Questors Theatre near Ealing Broadway Station it anybody fancies it. Tickets are £14-22. i’m fascinated by this production because the original Frantic Assembly version was so iconic, but this one has been put together by a totally different company. Intrigued to see if it maintains its appeal in a new staging. Quote

Some boxes, a fake dog, a fake rat, some suitcases and a Tetris block shaped screen. Quote

Just a brilliantly observed Jamaican aunty type. I have no interest in watching the subsequent production, because Stephen Fry as Bracknell just feels like lazy panto dame stuff, and such a step backwards in comparison. Quote

Paid Members TheBurningRed Posted April 17 Paid Members Posted April 17 Saw Romeo and Juliet at The Globe a couple of weeks ago. A modern retelling that had a big focus on knife crime. It also had masked youths on bikes and electric scooters stealing phones and even poison delivered by Deliveroo. As someone who gets very bored watching Shakespeare, this made it a lot easier. It was perfectly fine. It was nice to go to The Globe. Would recommend renting a cushion. Tomorrow afternoon, me and my wife are going to see Dracula in the West End. Starring Cynthia Erivo in a one woman show playing over 20 characters. Hour and 50. No interval. It’s going to be a tough one for me. But we are off to the Top Secret Comedy Club afterwards which should be fun as we have never been before. Quote

You could really feel the DNA from the writers time as part of Kill The Beast. The CSM is an old acquaintance so we met afterwards for a drink, turns out all but one of the actors on the tour were swings from the first run of the show in London, so that was a nice bonus. Anyway. Even if you dont like musicals I highly recommend Quote

I'm not big on musicals, and especially a lot of modern ones that either try and ape Hamilton or all have this horrible transatlantic American accent talk-singing (if you've ever heard anything from the Groundhog Day musical, I consider that the absolute nadir of this shit), and Mincemeat just manages to perfectly avoid everything I find irritating about musicals, while keeping in everything good about them. That it does that while managing to be brilliantly clever and funny, almost entirely historically accurate, and sneaking up on you with one of the most heartbreaking songs I've heard in years, is nothing short of a miracle. It not only manages to get over the "musicals are generally annoying" but flies over it to give one of the funniest, smartest and at times moving shows I've ever seen live. Quote

Awards Moderator HarmonicGenerator Posted April 22 Awards Moderator Posted April 22 The Guardian did a ranking of Shakespeare's plays because it's his birthday tomorrow. I'm happy with #1 because that's always been one of my favourites. Obviously a list designed to make people argue with it (Winter's Tale over Much Ado? I mean) but it does make me wonder if there'd be time to catch Love's Labours Lost at the Globe before All In London in August... When we go to Springsteen next month, we are taking the chance to see a bit of theatre. There's a production of Dog Day Afternoon with Jon Bernthal and Ebon Moss Bachrach which I hope will be good (I haven't seen the film). And it's a musical, but we've got tickets for Little Shop of Horrors as well. Quote
