In a bit of AmDram news I've been cast by my local group as Albert, in 'Hogfather'! Months away, but Im already bricking it, I've acted about 3 times in the last decade - I normally direct. But I couldn't turn this chance down.

I'm in New York next month, Neil Patrick Harris is in a revival of ART. So is Bobby Canavale. There is surely nothing that could ruin this right?

Was at The Globe for The Merry Wives of Windsor this afternoon.

You will be no doubt bored of reading me writing this, or maybe thinking I'm completely uncritical, but the Globe lot have done it again. This was a lovely performance, with some great comedy skills on display. I still think that last year's Much Ado About Nothing was the high point, but this was still fantastic, and, in some ways, an easier show to take in. Not quite sure how; it just felt like a more accessible script and performance. Possibly there was a fair bit more physical comedy than the usual. It felt light-hearted like it should be, with a fair bit of pathos thrown in.

As always, I recommend that you go if you get the chance. The Globe's not cheap, but I would argue it's great value.

The Falstaff actor is superb, isn't he? I mean, they're all good, but he really inhabited the role.

Wasn't going to go but 2 35 dollar tickets popped up.......

He's the best thing about it, NPH and cannavale play the obnoxious quasi aristocrats well, but Corden is the comedic foil, essentially playing himself turned up to 11, and it's actually really good, he is a whirlwind of confused idiocy wrapped up in a chubby Panda. The play itself is a little light, but it's a one act 90 minute affair that's utterly enjoyable.

John Proctor is the villain is a spectacular piece of theatre, an utterly compelling look at power structures and toxic masculinity performed by some incredible actors. It's a teenage equivalent of prima facie and I'm genuinely in awe of how they pull these emotions out 8 times a week.

Maybe happy ending was so sweet it gave me diabetes, there's been some unsettlement over Andrew Bart Feldman getting the lead role, since it's set in Seoul, but he had called out so we got his understudy, who was Asian-American. I completely see why it won the tony, but I want less video effects in my theatre, not more.

Sunday nights are traditionally dark on Broadway, but managed to catch Heathers:the musical off Broadway. It's a big gay Broadway musical and I absolutely loved it, and will be seeing it every time it rolls through Ireland.
