So this is never going to happen.

I don't want to make light of a terrible tragedy, but if it never happened Benoit would be a guaranteed Hall of Hame recipient.

Let's pretend it never happened and Benoit is going in the Hall of Fame. Who would induct him? what would go in the speech? Highlights? Who would turn up for him in the audience?

He's in the Wrestling Observer one. He was inducted in 2003. In 2008 after the double murder/suicide, Meltzer set a recall vote. However it didn't reach the 60% threshold required to make it happen.

Probably would be Dean Malenko. Maybe Edge if not. It'd certainly have been interesting to see the stories of Japan and the Hart Dungeon. Though I assume Hard Knocks has a few ones.

He was an all time great in-ring but the subject only gets brought up because he murdered his wife and child.

It's a pretend Hall Of Fame that they mainly plan around what would draw. He wasn't that memorable a character to headline or anything. He'd have gone in 3rd from the top like a Christian or someone and we'd all have gone on with our lives.

Jericho does the speech, they big up his Japan, ECW and WCW work. They cover WWF up to dropping the belt to Orton.

It can be done, you just have to ignore 2005 onwards and brace for the shit jokes.

Chavo Guerrero does a long and flattering retrospective of his career, all about his time in Japan, WCW, his rumble and Wrestlemania wins. Touches upon Eddie and Mysterio and how close they all were, how he's a real family man.
Then he introduces him, his music plays, nobody comes out. *BEEP BEEP*

"Chavo, the dogs are in the pool area, I've left the garage door open".
