Full of people who voted for Trump now upset because their family members have been caught up in it due to their place of birth or whatever. Fair play to everyone who has replied politely, but in cases like this I'm far more inclined to lean towards the people unsympathetically responding, "why the fuck did you vote for him then, you moron? He's doing exactly what he said he'd do." My dickhead, racist uncle is a Trump supporter. I checked his Facebook yesterday (I check it periodically just to see what an awful human being he is, we aren't friends on Facebook, he deleted me when I posted a meme about your willy falling off if you supported Britain First). Weirdly, his Facebook has vanished. I can't figure out why. Maybe he finally said something so bad that someone told him to delete his account, or something got him in trouble with his work, or maybe he's took the racism to such a level that he's gone full private, so he can say what he wants now and really go to town on how angry the burka makes him (spoiler: he's furious pretty much constantly).

I heard an "expert" on US constitutional matters on the radio this morning ... and I quote: US Congress are the real power, & they can counter any EOs that the president has signed into existence. I think that Congress is not sitting at the moment, & no-one has recalled them to sit in light of the comings and goings of the administration staff in the White House. So ... when Congress is back, & the reality of these EOs hits them properly, they could just rescind the ones they don't like. Unless Uncle Donald goes full despot.

Been seeing a lot of these things comparing Trump's actions to patterns of emerging fascism/dictatorships, whereas I think there's some other parallels people in the US should be looking at that should be equally worrying. Namely, the typical activities of what you do when you acquire a business and strip its assets. Replacing board members, prioritising it under other existing businesses even if they are stable, looking at relatively short term wins at the expense of long term gains and more... Simply put, I really don't think he gives a shit about the USA one way or the other, and he's shown himself to be an impatient man. His policy seems more reflective of his ridiculous ego, his fights of whimsy, and keeping his base sweet whilst he pulls the rug out from under them. I really don't think he has enough patience to want to be a dictator. This is literally some shite that popped into my head in the shower this morning, so I'm sure there's a million reasons why I could be off base but I thought I'd throw it out there for consideration..

Because the officials who've been elected to hold the president to account are busy signing off on his equally corrupt nominations for high office and staying up till 3am to strip millions of people of their health insurance. Congress can't rescind an executive order. That's literally the point of an executive order. The only way Congress can overturn an executive order is to pass a law that (so to speak) trumps the order, but Trump can veto any law unless it has a 2/3 majority in both houses. It's also possible to challenge an executive order in the Supreme Court.

Mr.E Posted January 31, 2017 Posted January 31, 2017 Trump has fired acting Attorney General Sally Yates, after she advises to not enforce the potentially unlawful executive order on the travel ban. She has been replaced by the pro-Trump Dana Boente, who immediately has issued a statement that all orders from the president are to be followed.

Trump hasn't drained the swamp, he's run a net over the surface and is now throwing toxic barrels in the fucking thing. I am truly aghast at the amount of supporters he still has, Facebook is making me cringe even more now than the Brexit sputum it was getting covered in. May getting compared to Chamberlain more and more each day.
