Trying to stoke the flames of geopolitical tension and animosity in a part of the world that he knows little about, and that needs that kind of shit even less is scandalous. All for what? To try and promote a fight? To earn himself millions of dollars? Insane.

Not to mention that, given his own proximity to a major and violent geopolitical division, he should fucking know better. Imagine if the fight was in, say, Belfast, and Nurmagomedov went off on some riff about Proddies and Fenians?

If he's coming away with absolute shite like that, causing that kind of grief with people over him feeling bad about getting his arse kicked then he needs to take a long, hard look at himself.

€1,000 fine from a legal standpoint sounds about right. He's just lucky that the old fellow seems like he's not the type to make a fuss, or to sue him for a fuckload of money. That would be an open & shut case if ever there was one.

There are times when I wonder whether or not fines should be a percentage proportion of your income above a certain bracket, like taxes, instead of a fixed amount, because of shit like this.

Absolutely. Someone once said that a crime being punishable by a fine basically amounts to "legal if you're rich".
