Paid Members Sergio Mendacious Posted April 8 Paid Members Share Posted April 8 Had a knackering day, went to return our rental car, get our old number plate, and put a down payment on our new car, so we rewarded ourselves with barbecue at a local chain called Smithfield. lovely hush puppies, tasty coleslaw (bit sweet tho), good bbq, amazing chicken. Potato salad was a bit too much like a dessert, weirdly.

First heard of them in that episode of the UK Kitchen Nightmares, the only one in history when Gordon liked all the food:
Paid Members Sergio Mendacious Posted April 9 Paid Members Share Posted April 9 I went to that place in Brighton a couple of times, pre and post Gordon. Food the first time around was loads better. Also met Cliff Richard outside of it - the friend I was with had been going on for years about how her uncle was in Cliff's touring band or something, and had shown me his wedding video. Cliff was there, and he told her off (she was about six years old) for being too shy to dance on the video. She told him "You were at my uncle Gary's wedding, you told me off for being shy!" and he looked at her, totally blank. Probably scared. I reckon she was never the same after that. Mr_Danger
I’m sure it wasn’t the first time Cliff went blank when someone recalled a childhood experience with him.

I might get the chicken breader, and some of the BBQ sauce. https://www.scnbnc.com/shop/ I might also get some apparel, so I can be a full kit wanker, but it's for a BBQ restaurant. EDIT — just noticed they don't sell the breading online. They do have it in the store. Paid Members Sergio Mendacious Posted Friday at 05:57 PM Paid Members Share Posted Friday at 05:57 PM Had the day off on Tuesday, and took the opportunity to go try this little lunch spot, which I've driven past dozens of times. You know it's good, as it's part of a bunch of shops that include a dodgy convenience store, a tire place, and a smoke shop. Also, the parking lot is completely gravel, and it was packed. Got the lunch special; fries, a drink, and a "fried chicken sandwich." I don't know who could make a sandwich of this, it was a massive fried chicken breast on a cob. I'll be going back.
SuperBacon
Crinkle cut by far the worst cut of chip but that looks great. Love the simplicity of the menu as well. Â
Paid Members Sergio Mendacious Posted Friday at 06:16 PM Paid Members Share Posted Friday at 06:16 PM Yeah, they love a crinkle cut around here. They were nicely cooked, at least. They do chitterlings on the weekend, I've never seen them on a menu anywhere.
