Spectre.

Good performances all round, especially mon amour Lea, but it wasn't very good was it?  Overblown and not sure if it wanted to be Bond or Bourne.  I think Big Dave said it best, if you know what I mean.

I thought she was thrown under a bus in that role, she got fuck all to do. I quite enjoyed it, especially Batista, but even bringing in the SPECTRE element didn't make it feel like a Bond film.

It did make me wonder if the SPECTRE element is the genesis of a fucking Bond multiverse, what with the fate of Blofeld.  I'm sure that isn't the case because if there is any film that doesn't need spin offs, it's Bond.

I enjoyed Spectre when I watched it at the cinema, but unlike Casino Royale and Skyfall, I've had no interest watching it after that. It was a nice sort of homage to older Bond.

At the very least it wasn't Quantum of Solace bad. I'm still not entirely sure what the plot is about. Now, this may be an mild exaggeration, but I think I'd rather be molested by a drunk uncle than watch it again.

Just watched this years Sharknado offering.  Bloody awful as usual, but it has a cartain charm for cameo spotting if nothing else.

I just checked and it's the fifth film of the franchise. I thought the premise was being stretched thin by the third film, I didn't even realise they had done a fourth film, let alone a fifth. Still they are very tongue in cheek trashy fun.

Watched Atomic Blonde yesterday. It's a really good spy thriller that feels like a cross between Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and John Wick. Full of good action, has an interesting twisty plot, and a great lead performance from Charlize Theron and good support from a cast that includes James McAvoy, John Goodman, Sofia Boutella, Toby Jones and Eddie Marsan.

Watched John Wick and John Wick 2 during the week as well. Both are very good, stylish action-thrillers with basic plots and minimal development of anything , but they are full of action, are adequately acted by the very good cast, and just really entertaining films.

Arrival.

Without meaning to sound like a wanker, it's great to watch an intelligent science fiction film once in a while.  Denis Villeneuve always seems to deliver and for once I'm really looking forward to a new film from an old classic, if that makes sense.  Really subtle film with subdued performances, even Jeremy Renner was good!  And nice to see the director giving a role to the guy in the last scene of Enemy.

Watched A Ghost Story yesterday and, without meaning to sound like a wanker, it's great watching an intelligent story about a dude wearing a bed sheet, once in a while.

Given the story it could have quite easily drifted off into pretentious hilarity, but it's so well done by all that you come out feeling the pain of the film. Although typing that, a couple behind me laughed at a few tender moments because a dude in a sheet, but they were quite clearly a bit thick.

Moana. A couple of times actually. Well, what can I say. It is bloody great. It really is.

The story is decent, it's very funny, the casting is good, The Rock is immense in his role , and the soundtrack genuinely might be the best Disney one of all time. The songs are SO catchy, I'm not even annoyed they're all I hum at the moment.
