Paid Members IANdrewDiceClay Posted October 9, 2012 Author Paid Members Share Posted October 9, 2012 If a fan jumps the ring with intent to attack the wrestlers, they get battered. If you swing your fists and punch someone WHO DIDN'T DO ANYTHING, its completely different. How can't you see that? "Not attacking anyone"? Are they jumping into the ring to get an autograph? Should the wrestler wait to get stabbed before defending themselves? If you jump the ring, the fan is fucked because he's made the intent. If you are sitting in your seat putting your daft sunglasses on and some homeless looking bloke smacks you, its the wrestlers fault.
Paid Members Nick James Posted October 9, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted October 9, 2012 Two similarities to jericho.one both were put in unsafe working conditions.both acted stupidly (in jericho case there was no need to get out oftthe van or start jawing thereby ending up defending himself in a stupid and unnecessary manor).the reactions seem way out of proportion. Â I now have a headache. Â As has already been said, Punk struck a fan. Provoked or not, it was an unprofessional act that will not only make himself look bad, but also makes the company look bad. Keith Houchen
Am i completely imaging the thread here a few weeks ago where people posted funny comments on wrestlers including the nwo & shawn michaels etc stomping fans jumping the barrier who in most cases were not attacking anyone.it seemed the safety first approach was welcomed.not necessarily the right approach but there we go. No, I remember that thread too. However, the guy who Punk hit hadn't jumped over the barrier, he was in his seat. Do you see the difference? If not, take off your shades. twelve_grand
Sorry they were two separate points which is hard on a mobile.  1. I do think there are comparisons to jericho in terms of being in a difficult spot and stupidly reacting. I also think people are being harsh on punk because he's no longer their flavour of he month  2. The point about the moral outrage on jumping he ring was related to the ryback reaction.it may be right but there are some double standards.  On ryback and the title-god help us.  On punk-slap on the wrist and on we go even if he's charged its very minor
Paid Members JLM Posted October 9, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted October 9, 2012 Punk did a rash and stupid thing and deserves criticism for it. The fans shouldn't be shoving and slapping him, but he most certainly shouldn't be blindly swinging at them either. I can agree with that, but the level of abuse he's getting is a bit silly. If a body builder or gay porn star looking wrestler had done it they wouldn't be getting the same flack for it and you all know it. Keith Houchen
2. The point about the moral outrage on jumping he ring was related to the ryback reaction.it may be right but there are some double standards. But Ryback didn't react, that's why the comparison is shite. Had Ryback slapped the guy who jumped the barrier, then those who laughed at the nWo doing the same slated him for it. You'd have a point.  But they didn't  Therefore you don't  EDIT The UKFF contingent of 20-something internet geeks with the online personas of fifty year old darts players gets very tiresome sometimes. Paid Members JLM Posted October 9, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted October 9, 2012 If Ryback hit a fan people would be calling the fan stupid for trying it on with Ryback because he's built like a house. They'd be right too. However, people are suggesting here that Punk doesn't look tough and therefore virtually invites the fans to hit him, which is also fucking stupid. Â You got lucky Houchen, you escaped my post-based WRATH on a technicality.

Good job I'm built like Ryback, otherwise I'd slap the glasses from your stupid face. Â (To be honest, I'd say if anyone on the payroll did what Punk did, I'd say it was daft. Except, erm, is Nash still our guy, lads? Yeah, except Nash, he's ace)

Paid Members JLM Posted October 9, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted October 9, 2012 Oh yeah everyone would say it was a stupid thing to do for sure, but all this "throw the book at him" stuff would be significantly toned down.

Baz Windham
I wouldn't go as far as throw the book at him, but i'd be seriously thinking about the position he is in. He's not just retaliated to a fan by shoving them back or out the way which would be bad enough, he has blindly swung and reacted to various shoves and it's backfired. Imagine if he'd knocked a kid over with his flailing arm. You can't have on of your top blokes doing things like this, it's just not on. How can they trust his temper from now on? Â Are the fans dicks for shoving him? Yes. Should there have been security stopping them being dicks? Yes. Should Punk or any other superstar react to a few shoves and taps by wildly swinging at the someone who may or may not have been doing it? Absolutely never. There are numerous things he could have done if it weren't for his temper. Â I haven't even mentioned that he did while staring his fucking boss in the face! That shows a whole new level of lacking control.
