Paid Members Egg Shen Posted September 30, 2017 Author Paid Members Posted September 30, 2017 Quality little 40 minute documentary just gone on Netflix called Long Shot, i won't say too much about it but it's a true crime case about a guy potentially facing the death penalty for murder and how his lawyer tried to prove his innocence using some very unlikely sources. The more i say may spoil it but it's really good and it's not too long, worth a look. Quote
wordsfromlee Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 I remember reading about that in the news when it happened. Crazy stuff. Anyone listened to the S-Town podcast? I couldn't really get into Serial but quite enjoy this even if the guy presenting it has a weird thing where he sounds like he's about to cry/ran out of breath/acid reflux at the end of each sentence. Paid Members Gus Mears Posted October 2, 2017 Paid Members Posted October 2, 2017 (edited) I subscribed to Netflix solely for Ken Burns and it didn't let me down. His work is up there with World at War and 'Baseball (cheers Keith) might be the greatest documentary series I have ever seen. Now trying to find a way to watch the Vietnam series. Really Big Shoe Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 They are showing the Ken Burns Civil War doc on PBS America too. There's an episode today at 4.15pm. Cheers for the Vietnam info too Super. Quote
Paid Members ColinBollocks Posted October 2, 2017 Paid Members Posted October 2, 2017 (edited) I strongly recommend Burns' Roosevelt series he did 3 year ago. As always, brilliantly pieced together, with Paul Giamatti playing Teddy Roosevelt, Meryl Streep playing Eleanor Roosevelt and John Lithgow as James Roosevelt. It was on Netflix a few months back. Paid Members bAzTNM#1 Posted October 3, 2017 Paid Members Posted October 3, 2017 I wonder how the BBFC let the beheadings and the "heads on gate posts", people being crucified and whipped. People being shot in the face and back of the head go. Quote
