Got dragged to a comic shop today by thd kids, which turned out to have loads of wrestling stuff because the lad who runs it is a big fan. Loads of stuff I've never seen before but my favourite was this WWE "novel". Should have bought it.

The greatest wrestling book written gets an Audible release. Narrated by the man himself. Niagra Falls, Frankie baby.

Good to know! This was one thing I was hoping they would ask Bret about on his recent ITR speaking tour, but the one I went to in London mainly covered well-trodden ground unfortunately.

I hope he adds a bit more to the book, perhaps about his return in 2010 and so on.

I signed up for the free trial just to get this, but didn’t realise it was out until February 12th. Luckily that’s still in my trial window so I can cancel the subscription in time.

I read it back when it came out and it is a fascinating read, but I do seem to remember a coupon of points where he’d seem to remember Stampede stuff in intricate week to week detail, yet there was some WWF stuff that he’d totally gloss over. Still a great book though

He mentioned not too long ago he'd like to/is working on a follow up book. Fingers crossed!

A lot of the book was based on diaries he kept at the time; it wouldn't surprise me if he was simply writing more in his diary in the Stampede days, and too busy to keep on top of everything during the WWF. He might have also just cared more about Stampede; I always find it interesting how William Regal would much rather talk about his relatively brief time wrestling in the UK compared to the decades he's spent wrestling in the US, and I assume it's because he actually cared about one while the other was just a job.

The audiobook of Brets book is out now by the way, currently listening on Spotify despite me having read it 10 times or so.

Bret narrating me to sleep. Love it.

On this, of course its fantastic, as its Bret (forgot about the bit early on where his older brother pisses on him in the shower) but there are some really odd bits where I don't know if it's because Bret has misread, or misses bits out, but a (I think) AI Bret voice will come and do a "punch in" of the bits he missed. It's a much, much different tone of voice than whst he narrates in.

Its incredibly jarring and when you hear it you'll know what I mean.

Was going to mention this yesterday after I had it on during my morning walk. Going from the gravely, almost Stu Hart like voice he has today and slipping into “Prime Hitman” for a sentence or two then back again was a real “what the fuck?” moment.
