Ron&Hermione Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 So being a super sad lonely guy, I have somehow managed to spend the last 2 hours on some stupid conspiracy Twitter account (I found by going from one account to another and eventually got there.). Then checking it all out online. It ranges from the secret AIDS cure patent - 5676977 To Larry Silverstein the 'lucky' owner of the World Trade Center buildings. And a whole lot of stuff about aliens, money being the devil and how if we killed all rich people the world will be a better places. Everything I read and typed into Google can easily be disproved (unless I'm reading what the man wants me to read?). Yet when I look at the twitter replies there are hundreds (if not thousands) of people accepting it as the truth. Don't worry, I'm not attempting to start up the "how can people get into this shit" discussion for the millionth time, it's just fascinating that there are so many people who happily just read stuff without ever looking at the other side. I've actually been thinking, I really hope Astro's new book (looks awesome) does ridiculously well, because the next thing I want him to do is a documentary. (Fantasy booking alert! ) As he seems fairly well known through his blog, I hope he can subtly change his mindset and convince all the truthers he is one of them, spend 6 months immersed in that life, gaining their trust and being the champion of truth after all his blog lies. Before coming out and saying how it's all shit and he fooled them all. I mean that would be amazing, to see them lose all their shit and claim he is a government spy? Plus he may even get stabbed or something (obviously we wouldn't want that, but it would make the documentary a bit better). So if we need to get a kickstarter going i'm in for a lot! Quote

Days after Sandy Hook i had boys in work telling everyone it was 100% a false flag mission, based purely on watching that infamous video that went up on facebook...the same boys were spouting the Boston Marathon stuff. I had a really weird reaction the other night which no doubt was from other aspects of my life which manifested whilst reading about The Singularity. It was almost like a panic attack. I started reading about it, getting more in depth as I went through a ridiculous amount or articles about it, then all of a sudden I just couldn't take it much more. My brain sort of couldn't comprehend the idea of technology evolving to a state where we don't understand and have no knowledge of even understanding. I got all short of breath and for a while it was just too much reading about it. It genuinely scared me in a way I never would have expected, also it contradicts my view on technology as I embrace that Idea usually. Especially given that I love the workings of the universe and never get overwhelmed by the questions which that presents. Yet there was something about it I just couldn't handle. I remember watching a documentary on the History of Maths and they talked about how Infinity (and the ramifications that it has) drove mathematicians insane. Georg Cantor was one who they focused on where he started to really lose it. The idea of infinity is utterly mind blowing when you really get to it, as is anything which you can't fully comprehend. Has anyone read up on The Singularity? I know there's the book by Ray Kurzweil, is that any good or is it somewhat dated now? And if it is an inevitability, with some saying it could be as soon as 2030, what does that actually mean for the world? Because 15years really isn't that long of a time. Would we ever get to a case where we actively don't try and advance our technologies? Quote
