The Reverend Posted May 16 Posted May 16 Marty Jannetty has had his foot amputated. He's been a bit mental these last few years with a number of tall tales, but sad to see him end up like this. Quote
Johnnyreggae Posted May 16 Posted May 16 I always enjoyed marty jannetty back in the day. Even more than Shawn. Sad to see him in the way he is. Quote
westlondonmist Posted May 16 Posted May 16 Jesus that's horrible. He was my fave Rocker, fucking hate Shawn for turning. I used to laugh at him, last few years I've realised it's actually quite tragic. He had serious issues and I still hope he can get himself sorted in some way. Quote
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted May 17 Paid Members Posted May 17 Having the foot amputated will surely be a relief for him. He’s had major problems with it for years and must’ve been in constant agony with it, not to mention no doubt having to take a bunch of pain medication for it. As messed up as losing a foot is, in this case it’s surely a positive? They were never gonna save the foot or have him walking normally again so it’s better to take it off. Hopefully he can have some kind of better quality of life after this. Quote
Paid Members Carbomb Posted May 17 Paid Members Posted May 17 Didn't someone post a picture on here a few years ago, in which his ankle looked horrifyingly fucked? Quote

It was at some indie show, wasn't it? He was working a match and his (then) partner was there screaming at him not to continue because of his foot, if I remember rightly. Grim. Quote

Paid Members tiger_rick Posted May 17 Paid Members Posted May 17 Such a troubled bloke. His wrestling career was a mess with his constant hirings and firings and legal troubles putting a dampener on things when he was otherwise super talented. His career post WWE with his health declining and insane ramblings and throughout, some worrying relationships with young women. I'm glad that physically, he's now got the best chance at a pain free life in his old age. Still worry about the guy. I'm constantly expecting to hear that he's passed away or or been arrested. Quote
AshC Posted May 17 Posted May 17 When I briefly met him in 2019, he seemed a sweetheart of a guy. Hope his life will be a bit easier now. Quote
Paid Members BomberPat Posted May 18 Paid Members Posted May 18 Well over ten years ago, I remember someone - in my head it was Meltzer, but I can't imagine him saying something like this - being asked about Marty Jannetty's health, this was around September/October, and the answer was, "well, I wouldn't be buying a Christmas tree if I were him". It's wild that he's still going. He had a really fun match with Joey Janela at the first Spring Break, and there's a bit of commentary on it that is so cruel but makes me laugh every time I think about it. Marty hits a suicide dive, and the commentary exchange is: "Marty Jannetty looking like he stepped right out of a time machine!" "What, from the future?" Quote

westlondonmist Posted May 18 Posted May 18 Is there a reason Marty pretty much never stopped dressing as a Rocker? The look was very 80's/early 90's but come 93/94 it was dated yet here was Marty coming out dressed like David Lee Roth. Was it a him not willing to change or was it people higher up never came up with anything new. Quote

Bit of both I'd assume, Marty (though I love him as a performer) doesn't strike me as creative in that department, as a worker he was, but not into changing his look up or completely going in a different direction. I don't really know what you'd do differently with him unless he went under a mask or something. Quote

He was definitely a talented guy but he seemed so attached to this gimmick that didn't age. Quote
