Oh yeah, the "You Fucked Up" chant was so loud you could hear it fully over Kommander's music. I actually thought he said Dralistico, popped so hard when MISTICO came out and the Spanish people behind me knew all the words to his song.

Just started the post show scrum and Mone is brilliant in it, broken nose still covered in blood.

Oh yeah, I totally forgot about that - on any other show he’d have been the highlight for me, he was just sensational. He’s such a believable twat, he might actually be my favourite wrestler right now. I hope he’s the person who eventually takes the title from Ospreay.

And I also hope we see him interact with Christian, MJF or Toni Storm at some point. Four brilliant characters who have barely acknowledged one another on-screen. 

I’m just about to watch the show again, and even knowing every result I’m so frigging excited - the more I think about it, the more I feel like it’s my favourite ever wrestling show. Omega/Ospreay - which I’ve already rewatched…twice - might even be my favourite ever match. The presentation, the emotion, the actual wrestling - everything came together in the most special way possible.

The post-show presser is highly recommended. A genuinely touching moment when Will Ospreay starts crying after being asked what his sixteen year old self would think of how things turned out, and The New Level already proving what a home run signing they are, pissing charisma, running around having the time of their lives, chewing scenery and charming the pants off everyone.

This is also hilarious. Creed, Kofi and Big T, all competing to see who can have the biggest shit-eating grin.

Having now watched it back with commentary, I’m even more flabbergasted that anyone can watch that main event and still be even suggesting it should have been MJF in there instead of Omega. Sorry, but what the fuck are you talking about?!

It’s a God damn masterpiece. Match of the year. Best match I’ve ever seen live. The most perfect, beautifully-told conclusion to a multi-year story. All the pressure in the world, and yet they still exceeded expectations.

It’s everything AEW could and should be. State of the art wrestling, with state of the art production. Peak Japanese pro-wrestling, presented with peak North American presentation. A Tokyo Dome main event, with Wrestlemania production.

Ospreay’s entrance is one of the greatest of all time. Instantly goes alongside Hangman/Dark Order, Punk’s Revolution entrance to AFI and the Bryan Danielson video package set to Green Day’s, “Time of your Life.” One of the best things AEW have ever produced. I imagine it’ll now enter rotation with the others as something I watch regularly, just to feel something.

Will Ospreay is a deeply flawed, problematic man. He’ll probably say or do something stupid before the end of the year that once again brings it all crashing down. But for one night, with one entrance, and one match, I was completely lost in it. Felt myself choking up listening to his mum narrating over that video package. I must give my mum a call tomorrow to tell her I love her!

That was also Kenny Omega’s best performance in years. Honestly wouldn’t be shocked if he retired after that. I want to see the New Level vs. The Elite as much as everyone else, but Jesus Christ. He’s not topping that ever again. Going full dickhead mode, the Title belt acting like the Green Goblin mask for corrupting him. Amazing. Even the way him kicking out at one over and over again eventually became his undoing, having nothing left. Fucking hell, man. Actual art.

Everything after the One Winged Angel kick out was like an out of body experience. People were losing their minds. Someone near us nearly fell down into the row below them. Absolute pandemonium. One of the most mental final stretches of all time. The most electric crowd I’ve ever been a part of.

I was surprised to see how quickly they rushed off the air, with the TV audience not seeing them hug at the end. A huge shame. That was lovely. Concluded the story beautifully. Kenny’s humanity returning without the belt!

Another thing they’ve just released on social media is this moment, after people started leaving. Will Ospreay’s mum comes to pick him up, revealing he finally bought her that van, using his own money.

Not since Avengers Endgame have so many stories been concluded so perfectly.

Wow that Ospreay entrance was fucking unreal 😭 That is how you do something right, and for me it truly gave the match a special feel, and was possibly one of the greatest entrances I have ever seen in anything. 

I'm still yet to get round to the full show but the bits I have seen look absolutely fantastic, a true event for pro wrestling fans and some of the bits I've watched remind me, and us all, why after all these years, we still watch this strange and beautiful spectacle.

I see a lot of people comment on Ospreay being flawed and battling their want to like him on here. 

What is it that he's done exactly? 

One of the endearing things about him is he feels like someone you could know. Loves a nando's, proper underdog who didn't want to go to WWE and became a star in the other company. 

I do know some of the misdemeanors that's been said before, yet he was young. He's likely not the same guy anymore. None of us have perfect backgrounds.

That entrance though, perfect! I'll forever have a flashback to that entrance when I hear that song. Similar to my way making me think of rock Austin and we were young for the Rock Cena.

We've been spoilt this year for main events. Punk (also an awesome entrance) Vs Roman, El Grande Americano and now this.

There's been/was/is a Speaking Out issue with one of Ospreay's bezzies that didn't paint Will in a very good light at all in how he conducted his influence on other important people. I don't know about anything else, if he apologised or said he understands stuff better, but it's not great. Basically Will is definitely dumb enough to do a selfie outside a Nando's with someone massively problematic. 

It's for everyone and anyone to judge accordingly to be honest. I don't know much about Will Ospreay other than that, whatever that thing with Vader was and his AEW run.

Anyway on the wrestling front that main event as others stated and I agree massively was out of this world. What a journey that match was, and I thought BOTH hype videos were brilliant. Ospreay's hall of memories to The Who, lovely stuff. Omega was some Japanese nerd shit that I don't understand the significance of but it is to him, and another great video setting him up like a final boss but also with a tinge of unsaid finality to what might be his big match top line career. I'll have a plate of that.

Got round to watching it earlier and was a really good show. Just did the PPV so no pre-show and was pleasantly surprised it was only four hours, which felt much more manageable in the age of 5/6/7ers where you need a Mars bar and a tinfoil blanket by the end. Seemed a bit odd to come in part way through the trios thing (I had no idea it was over the top eliminations until about 15 minutes in) but I guess that was the tease for people to buy and see The New Level. I’m hoping we see a more Swerve-friendly version of them going forwards where they feel a bit more sinister/sadistic than The New Day.

Match of the show for me was the men’s tag titles. Told a really good story of the wily older team working nasty against the younger, flashier team who had to use shenanigoats to get the win when they realised they couldn’t put them away fairly. Probably the best Cope’s looked in AEW. I’ve been going off Young Bucks matches and probably the tag title matches in general as they just end up feeling very long and samey with the same synchronised move spots (stereo suplexes, stereo clotheslines etc.) that tend to look a bit lame but this was a nice chance of pace and it made such a difference. My only real gripe was that they didn’t let the ending breathe at the end of the match with the parade of tag teams coming out right after the bell to willy wave about the depth of the tag division- you’ve just built this match up as a battle of the generations and one team has just had to cheat to get the win, that alone sets up a rematch (possible a TLC) but instead it got lost with everyone piling out.

Thought the continental cup match was much better than I was expecting given the ending wasn’t really in doubt before time. The near falls towards the back of the match were great and I did wonder whether they were going to give Nigel the feelgood upset but the actual ending and the way he finally had to give in was perfect.

Gutted for Willow, was really hoping they’d give her a longer run with the belt and play up the Mercedes can’t beat Willow line or at least have Mercedes take a shortcut rather than having her go out clean. Still a brilliant match, Mercedes getting busted open early really helped play in to the grudge match feel. Did wince with the suplex off the apron, that was a proper splat. Not sure where they go from here with either Mercedes or Willow – unless you’re turning Thekla face, bringing someone in or Toni Storm’s ready to come back, there isn’t anyone who’s jumping out as a next challenger and with the TBS title now more of a lower level belt (as it probably should be), Willow’s left in limbo a bit once her hand’s healed.

Can’t really add anything to Fletcher/Takeshita/Okada or the main event that hasn’t already been said, both top draw. Did enjoy the UKFF-style subliminal messaging during Takeshita's entrance where the A was cut off of the screens from the angle they filmed the entrance so it just read TAKESHIT in big letters.

I think that’s the exact point. There’s a tremendous story to be told in Willow eventually rising to the top again - a bit like Hangman Page, in which his second World Title win felt just as special as his first. She has tremendous chemistry with Mercedes both in and out of the ring, and I can’t imagine anyone would look at the prospect of a rematch as anything other than exciting. I mean, they had that match with an injured Willow - when she’s fully fit, they can eclipse something that was already tremendous.

As for Thekla - fans are definitely ready to cheer her, and I think you could easily turn her. As far as other opponents for Mercedes go, she’s one of the best wrestlers on the planet and she’s clearly motivated to go on one hell of a run. Whoever they have her wrestle, she’ll make it work - Statlander, Harley Cameron, Thekla, Athena, a returning Toni Storm, Jamie , Thunder Rosa or even Megan Bayne or Lena Kross. Heck, people loved the Maya World match so there’s probably intrigue in a rematch there. The only bad match Mone has had since joining AEW was with Britt Baker. I wouldn’t at all be surprised if she wanted to rectify that, and I’ve no doubt that she could.

In addition, if Bayley does come in (though I don’t think she will), you only have a month or so until her contract is allegedly up - so there’s another option.

AEW has a stacked women’s roster, but you’re right in suggesting that it’s more impressive on the heel side. But that can easily be fixed.

AEW haven’t ever had the best options for merch at the Wembley shows (no programme again this year) but one thing they did on Sunday that I loved was rival football shirts for Ospreay and Omega. Felt really fitting for where we were, really nice touch. A lot more Ospreays than Omegas, though our section was very pro-Kenny.

My wife asked me why I didn’t wear my Hangman shirt from Manchester. I explained. She was disappointed. If anyone wants a Hangman shirt it’ll probably be on her Vinted soon.

Still absolutely electric when he and Swerve faced off in the Trios match, though. They have a well they can go back to forever with those two.

I was pretty disappointed by the merch options, I get why they limited it to a few select shirts with a few being for the event itself but I wanted the new Willow design.

A huge shout out to all my normal, functioning humans in Section 119! Other than one bloke miles behind us who tried to get a CM Punk chant going when Jack Perry came out, we had the most perfect experience for not having a single dickhead nearby. Made all the difference!

Bonus, scattered thoughts…

The roulette graphics to announce new teams in the Trios match was cool. We’ve come a long way from those early shows, when they had no idea how to make the Vegas theme work and four random blokes would awkwardly walk out because they were, “The Diamonds of the pack.”

On that, did they do ten second countdowns during the Casino Gauntlet on TV? It was rubbish they didn’t do it in the stadium. We wanted the full Royal Rumble experience!

Very funny watching the way everyone froze in the ring whilst they waited for the PPV to begin and the New Level debut. Must have been a solid five minutes. Like everyone’s controllers suddenly disconnected. A faulty Multi-Tap.

Hangman and Swerve is still magic. I got goosebumps when they squared up to each other. Oh, Hangman. Why did you have to ruin it?! I hope the croissant was worth it!

Of everyone who has ever jumped ship back and forth since 2019, nobody looks weirder than Kofi Kingston wrestling in an AEW ring. The best description I’ve seen is how it looks like that episode of Treehouse of Horror, where Homer falls through a portal and is walking around the real world.

I thought this was funny when we were trying to get some signal in Wembley Stadium. Think of the scorching hot scoops we could have got if we’d hacked into the mainframe!

On any other night, Willow and Mercedes would have been match of the night. Crazy good, wildly violent chemistry between those two. I don’t know if it was agreed upon beforehand or just something that naturally happened after Mercedes broke her nose, but for the rest of the match it felt like pure hatred between them, stiffing the shit out of each other. Now more than ever they’ve proven they deserve the Main Event spot on a PPV. Hopefully the Trilogy match headlines whatever show it’s on.

No better example of how incredible that main event was than going from these two images. Breaking each other’s necks, to holding hands after the bell rings, crying blood. I LOVE it.

A funny thing I’ve seen is people confused as to why the commentators went silent after Ospreay kicked out of the One Winged Angel. No greater example of how WWE commentary has broken people’s brains. They can’t fathom that commentators might just shut the fuck up and let the moment and reaction speak for itself.

Can you even imagine Michael Cole calling that spot. What dog shit, over-rehearsed, pun-filled lines he would’ve inauthentically shouted down our ears.

”Seems like the ANGELS are looking down on Will Ospreay tonight! It looks like we’re KICKING into the next gear!”

They didn't! I enjoyed the match in spite of that, but it's an added bit of fun that I hope they bring back next time they run this match.
