AEW All In: London (2026) Discussion

I dont even really follow AEW but I wish I had gone now. I hope they d9nt dial it back for next year, sounded excellent.

One thing that I find astounding - even by the low standards of wrestling ‘journalism’ is that nobody thought to ask at the post-show presser if or when they’d be back at Wembley, or even where All In would be next year. Such an obvious and relevant question, yet it went unasked. Even if the answer was ‘we’ve yet to decide where it’ll be’ then that’s an answer worth hearing. The brain dead questioning of a wrestling never fails to surprise me.

Was going to do a big review but too sleep deprived this week to bother but to summarise - fantastic show obviously. I had a good seat and my neighbours were all very pleasant.

Everything on the show was fun at the very least and breezed by. I'd say only three of the matches were genuinely great though.

- Mox vs McGuinness: seeing Mox's entrance live was an absolute bloody treat. I understand and often agree with the criticism of him but when he's on I just bloody love him. He feels like a big fuckin' deal. I was worried a mat based match wouldn't grab the crowd but the work was so good everyone was hooked in. Heartbreaking ending with McGuinness trying all he could to reach the ropes but just having to tap out. Mox's endless onslaught of his opponents is a joy to watch. He just grinds them to dust. What a man.

- Willow/Mercedes: evil wins! One of the best matches of the year. A rough, brutal and emotional scrap. You could feel the hate in this one. I was sad that Willow lost (in a good way) but Mercedes is so great at what she does. She is truly diabolical. The blood really added to this, made Mercedes look like a savage beast. Can't wait for Willow to heal up and get her title back.

- Ospreay/Omega: firstly, obviously the entrances were both unbelievable. The best production the company has ever done. But my favourite part was the juxtaposition between Ospreay's emotional video being about him being a good hearted humble family man surrounded by love and his country backing him to achieve his dreams and coming out looking nervous and emotional and Kenny's video being just "YOU ARE A WARRIOR GOD, HERO TO ALL, THE BEST EVER AND NOW IT'S TIME TO GO PLUS ULTRA!!!!!" and Kenny coming out looking this this...

The best. The unbeatable end boss. Jesus fucking Christ!

The match was a total masterpiece. The best work I've seen from both men in AEW. It doesn't get any better than this, does it? Match of the year....the decade? The only match of the current era that stands close is Danielson vs Swerve at All In 2024. Kenny was brutal in this and Ospreay was fighting for his life. My favourite sequence being the insane beyond comprehension running powerbomb through a VERTICAL table, followed by a horrendous looking running knee the finished off with my favourite suicide dive ever where Kenny just flattened Will. The use of the Hidden Blade was perfect. Ospreay's one move that kept saving him from Kenny's relentless onslaught. This will probably be the last big match of Omega's career - what a way to go out.

As happy as I was for Ospreay, that all just reminds me of what a real pleasure it was seeing Kenny locked in like that and able to put on a performance of that calibre in 2026. His AEW run has been very up and down but damn, not that anyone really needed a reminder but he's fucking incredible.

Maddest thing is that the last time I saw Kenny Omega live - in Manchester in December - he looked absolutely thrashed. Looked like a man in need of a sit down and a blanket, not a main event push. It’s wild that eight months later he delivered one of the best matches I’ve ever seen.

A real sense of vindication for all of us who complained when he was thrown into a random multi-man tag match on the first All In at Wembley. Turns out, it was a bit of a waste and Kenny is more suited for a big singles match. Who could have guessed? (Everyone).

I can’t stop watching it. Between the phenomenal entrances, the match itself, the emotion, the One Winged Angel kick out, the insane closing stretch, the incredibly selfless job Omega did putting Will over and setting him up as the new big star. It’s one of my favourite matches ever. Almost perfect in every single way. As good as it gets.

Nice of Will to even stick some WWE references in there. A masterpiece of a match that stretches across all tribalism and unifies all of us.

I wonder if they had already been briefed that it's probably not coming back next year, or read between the lines with other UK shows being announced. I saw one of those shit Facebook "news" pages post about how All In will likely be in the US next year, and how it's a crushing blow to AEW's presence in the UK to end the "tradition" of it being at Wembley, because apparently everyone collectively forgot that it was in Texas last year.

I don't think it's a bad idea to run Wembley every two years, there's an absence makes the heart grow fonder thing there that made this show feel much bigger for it. Doesn't mean they don't run the UK next year (obviously they've already announced Dynasty), or even that they don't run London, just a rest on Wembley. Personally, I'd want to see them run a smaller PPV at the Royal Albert Hall; it would look fantastic, lend them a lot of credibility, and there's a lot of wrestling history there that AEW can lean into.

I thought it was probably this simply because it gets a bit awkward. WWE do enough of that rubbish "oh you're the best we think you should get Wrestlemania!" crap or even the typical "do you want to see this match?" CROWD CHEERS! "well we'll book it for the PPV!" shit. Would've been a bit of a downer on arguably the biggest AEW night ever to be like "nah we're not coming back".

Originally I would have said to stop going back Wembley and choose a smaller stadium instead, but having now experienced it again, even only selling around 40,000 tickets I’d still want to see them to go back. It’s such a magical venue that they can make look phenomenal even half empty. Every two years seems the best option.

I think it’s obvious All In will be in America next year, likely counter-programming Wrestlemania in Saudi Arabia. The way WWE haven’t announced a date for Wrestlemania, I think we’re in the midst of a game of chicken, where everyone is trying to hold off announcing the date for as long as possible. 

I’d do All In 2027 at Louis Armstrong Stadium in New York the same day as Wrestlemania. Reach out to all the Independent companies and Conventions to  build the week around them. After years of WWE being pricks and counter-programming, they’d be foolish not to go on the offensive. It’s the biggest open goal.

Yeah I agree they should still run it. From attending 2023 and 2024, the tarps and empty seats are noticeable in the stadium but they’re far less so on TV. Even live I didn’t give a shit at all after the initial visual; I’d still rather have had 40-50k people going nuts for Swerve/Danielson and giving them the biggest stage possible than 20k in a smaller venue,

The Ospreay and Omega entrances are both doing good social media numbers and the stadium looks utterly spectacular in them, particularly as it’s towards the end of the night and the lights are down anyway.  You don’t see a half empty stadium watching those clips, the whole thing looks like an absolutely gigantic deal.

My bad! Wrestle Me mentioned that someone asked when they'd be back 'in England' rather than Wembley and I made an assumption. I think the quality of All In 2026 (and maybe a break of a few years) will mean the next All In at Wembley will sell incredibly well. Or Tony Khan can just listen to me and run it in Inverness as I kindly asked. Our biggest venue accommodated 7,512 seated - they could easily sell that for their biggest show of the year. And, more importantly, I could actually attend. Do it, Tony.

I think actually counter-programming Wrestlemania would be a mistake, but they absolutely have to run All In or an equally massive show in the US next year, and actively encourage other promotions to treat it as a Wrestlemania weekend. I just think actively trying to run the same weekend is playing WWE at their own game, and would be a mistake - there's too much habit-viewing and history of people getting together to watch Wrestlemania, too much equity in that brand, to try and compete directly.

But actually, one of the smartest things AEW could do around Wrestlemania is not get in WWE's way and allow them to make their own mistakes. Because AEW need WWE to make avoidable mistakes just as much as they need to be actively good themselves - I've seen a lot of people won over by AEW after All In, but in a lot of those cases it's been explicitly framed in contrast to WWE TV getting worse, to the amount of ads and non-wrestling content on WWE PLEs, and Netflix censoring RAW, so being able to tacitly remind people that WWE are raking in the Saudi money at the expense of their domestic fanbase, while AEW is giving you an equivalent "Wrestlemania" experience is the right move. Why take headline space away from "WWE are doing their biggest show of the year in Saudi Arabia"?

 

Make a weekend of it. Alongside All In, have a big ROH show, have NJPW and CMLL run the same weekend, get all the convention circuit stuff involved, invite indie promotions to treat it like they would Wrestlemania weekend. AEW would need a better investment in managing this sort of thing than they normally bring to Wembley, to have a big fan-fest set up all weekend with loads of merch on sale, but that would presumably be much easier in the US than it would be for them to bring stuff here or get it produced locally with no UK office. Heck, maybe go the whole hog of it being their Wrestlemania weekend and launch the AEW Hall of Fame - a first year Hall of Fame class of Sting, Brodie Lee, Owen Hart, Bryan Danielson, and maybe a retiring Chris Jericho?

I wouldn't be against that although every one of them could headline the class, who are you left with the year after? It's a bit TNA but maybe have one or two a year until there's more company history.

for sure - and maybe AEW Hall of Fame is a separate thread topic in its own right - and my first thought was that they would just have Sting as the first inductee, but then all of those other names came to mind as well.
