One for me is that when Jaime Hayter returned from injury she had a new 70s inspired look but she kept her old theme music rather than changing it to fit the new look. So you've got this red-head hippie with technicolor flower girl graphics coming out to a banging noughties industrial rave tune. It jars me every time. Edited January 13 by LaGoosh Quote
Paid Members Lorne Malvo Posted January 13 Paid Members Posted January 13 Red Velvet got injured and they created the Interim ROH Womens TV title (just typing that annoys me), which bounced around from Mina Shirakawa to Mercedes Mone back to Red Velvet when she returned. Rush got injured and they stripped Rush and Sammy Guevara of the ROH tag belts. Nick Wayne is the mens TV champ, got injured before Red Velvet and Rush but hasn't been stripped and they've not created an interim title. So inconsistent. Nothing to do with the product but a minor annoyance at the moment is a mate of mine keeps mistakenly calling JetSpeed JetBall, which sounds like a shit Lotto game. Quote

Why are more people not complaining about this - surely even their most dedicated fans don’t find this anything other than tedious? In a more general sense, wrestlers getting distracted by something going on outside the ring that clearly won’t affect them in any way, turning their back on their opponent, only to lose because of that act of idiocy. Same goes for referees doing that, leading to a wrestler being screwed out of a match, the ref missing a pinfall or similar. Quote

Actually, I don't watch enough big time wrestling to really get annoyed anymore. I do find the interview, podcast styling and the absolute saturation of it to be irritating. Quote

I think any breaking of kayfabe on TV annoys me to be honest. Blurred lines, references to real world stuff, it all drives me crazy. Weak, lazy, bottom of the barrel stuff for a cheap pop. I'm not a fan of Charlotte generally but she summed it up pretty perfectly for me when she commented on her divorces being used as an insult on live TV and said "I've been divorced three times but Charlotte hasn't". Despite what many in the business say all the best stories and moments in wrestling have been entirely fictional - reality doesn't draw or create good stories. Quote

I have some specific AEW booking bugbears that come up every week - existing champions challenging for other belts rather than defending their own, wrestlers in factions teaming with people from outside of their group - but the big one that annoys me when AEW do it but has been annoying me since long before they existed, is wrestlers arguing with a promo airing on the big screen. It's never not awkward, it makes the wrestler in the ring look like an idiot, particularly when the promo is clearly a pre-tape, and it's never a better option than just having the wrestlers argue face-to-face (or, God forbid, wrestle). People mocked Rick Steiner arguing with Chucky, but Chucky being a puppet is only half of the reason why that was stupid. It doesn't work when it's a bait and switch either, when it's revealed that the video on the screen is pre-recorded as a distraction for the wrestler to sneak attack someone. Because then I have to picture a wrestler (or wrestlers) knowing that their rival was going to mention them in a promo ahead of time, finding a camera crew, convincing production to air their tape on TV at the right time, hoping their rival behaves in a certain way or says something to cue up their video, and so on and so on. One stemming more from my time in-ring that has bubbled over into watching as a fan; referee distraction spots that don't make sense. Anything that makes the referee turn away from the match, just because someone has jumped up on the apron and waved their arms around. If you try and physically get in the ring, or throw an object in the ring, or fiddle with a turnbuckle, or grab the leg of a wrestler - all things that physically risk affecting the match, then sure, the referee should attend to that, though still never to the point of actively turning away from a pinfall or submission in process. But just "HEY REF LOOK OVER HERE" is the worst. By extension, wrestlers being distracted by entrance music playing. A heel has a babyface prone on the floor, and is preparing to hit them with a chair. Babyface's mate's entrance music plays, and heel instantly drops the chair, allowing babyface to escape, as they prepare for a fight. It would take two seconds to just him with a chair anyway, their mate's never getting there that quickly, why not do it anyway, then fight the friend? Quote
