Sold out already it seems! Scalpers must have caught on real quick. My mate sent me a  screenshot last night that Ebay is already full of £500-600 resellers for just the console.

I’ve went with my brain and not my heart on this one and I’m going to wait until maybe Christmas time or whenever they’re freely available. I’ve got a fat back catalogue to get through and don’t want to stress out trying to get one.
I worked at GAME during the PS5/Xbox Series launch and going through that again might give me PTSD so just going to put money aside and then get it with Prime 4, Mario Kart and Donkey Kong to give me a few bits to play.

Yeah I totally get it. Thing is Mario Kart is something my son loves to watch my wife and daughter play, so when they saw the new game that’s what they both wanted for Christmas so it’s an early present.

Not the best way, but I’d set up an alert on HotUKDeals for Switch 2, so when someone posted it I was straight on it. It seemed to take about 15-20 minutes before people reported it had sold out. I imagine they will keep opening it when they have more stock delivery dates as mine is clearly the second batch of allocations.

Oh I don’t begrudge anyone there getting it day one at all. I’m just saying as much as I’d love to I’m going to try and hold back. We’ll see how that goes though!

My wife isn’t a gamer at all, but she’s an absolute whizz at Mario Kart - like, scarily good and impossible to beat. What makes it strange is that she doesn’t even like playing Mario Kart, so we have a weird situation going on in which I want to play her and finally win, but she has no interest in doing so. Here’s hoping Mario Kart World allows you to watch Grey’s Anatomy or Bridgerton while you drive, so there’s motivation for her to play me. She’s like an Elden Ring boss to me.

They were supposedly developing a brand new Ridge Racer game for the Switch which had nothing to do with the absolute shit which was Unbounded. I was gutted when I read they’d cancelled it. Switch is such an ideal console for a modern RR game, although it would likely mean I’d finally retire my PSP.

I still give RR a blast most nights before bed, it’s probably my favourite ever game.

The great thing about this version is that it's finally a proper port of the arcade, you can emulate it but it never controls properly in MAME so I'm hoping they have it down pat here. I'd love to see them port the arcade only RR2 (or just the improvements and songs an option here) and Rave Racer, too.

Has anyone been along to the Switch 2 experience event in London? I’d love to hear your thoughts on the console and games if so.

A friend is sending me live updates.

TOTK much sharper with a smooth framerate.

Mouse controls feel amazing.

The magnetic snap is reassuringly firm.

New analogue sticks are smooth (not sure if he meant to the touch, or the motion was very smooth, or both)

He came 2nd of the 24 racers in Mario Kart World, but no medal or prize :(

I've just realised buying consoles I don't have enough time to play is my weakness. I don't need it, there isn't anything there completely new that I would really want, but I NEED IT.

My moment of weakness took place last night purely because I saw some in stock. I've been thinking I should cancel it but my wife has convinced me we'll use it and it's ok as long as we can play the old games.

Looking at the game prices I think it will be purely a Mario Kart console for a couple of years.

Still don't need it but I got it as I'm a fool.

Mario Kart was enough for me to order it. It's not like I have a crazy amount of time to play games anyway but it's one of my favourites and an easy thing to dip in and out of. The kids love it too so we'll definitely get enough use out of it.

With the game prices I'll definitely be more conservative with what else I buy. Or at least that's what I'm telling myself at the moment..

I had pretty much forgotten about the Switch 2 until I was reminded that it’s out in less than 2 weeks. I’ve got it pre-ordered, but wondering if I should cancel it and wait til there’s at least one more big game out for it. Mario Kart looks good, but of the people I know who were getting the console, one didn’t pre-order and the other has cancelled his. Playing Mario Kart on your own doesn’t have much appeal. And since there’s no first party single player game at launch, I can see the console gathering dust after a few weeks until Donkey Kong comes along.

It does feel like a lot of the hype died off in the days after the announcement, not that it looks like a bad console and I'm sure it'll do much better than the Wii U but it's a tad underwhelming overall.

Aye my mate has one preordered and he mentioned it to me today that it was out in a couple of weeks. Completely slipped my mind, I’ve been playing Skyrim.

Mario Kart has been an obsession since I played it on the SNES so I'm genuinely excited for a new one after all these years of playing the same one. Especially now I've got kids old enough to enjoy it too. It's very much a full circle thing. So yeah, definitely worth the money for me just for that. Can see why a lot of people would be underwhelmed to start with though.
