Spent a good while revisiting Soul Calibur 2. Probably the fighting series I've had the most success with over the years. I've never been able to master stuff like Street Fighter but this is about my level. Didn't take me long to get back into it and still having fun with it. Then I went random and delved into Tetris 99. What started as a nice calm experience with some funky music ended up as an anxiety ridden nightmare. Loved every damn second of it. Haven't won yet but I'm getting close. Is this all part of the same switch online stuff you pay for with switch 1? Quote

I just upgraded my basic one but if you've already got the higher tier then the Gamecube stuff is included like the N64 ones. Quote

Or will it stop people buying World… Edited June 10, 2025 by hallicks Quote

I love Tetris 99, and I’ve probably spent more hours playing this than any other Switch game. It’s the best feeling in the world when you win one of these, and the absolute worst when you come close only to have your final few opponents target you and successfully take you out by barraging you with blocks. Ironic Indie Lad Posted June 10, 2025 Posted June 10, 2025 I didn't get one yet. Had one in my basket on Argos and Smyths a few times and decided not to pull the trigger yet. I keep thinking "oh go on then" but then cooler heads prevail. I feel like Mario Kart World just isn't quite enough for me to bother just yet. I am hoping Donkey Kong is an absolute 10/10 belter and I'll get one later in the summer. (For anyone who has read my posts in other gaming threads, I am continuing to mostly play 90s and 00s RPGs. I am currently playing Final Fantasy 9 so probably no real reason for me to upgrade in a hurry!) Quote

I found the best way to counter that is to avoid selecting someone to target yourself for as long as you can to slip under the radar, and to switch around as much as you can after that so that no one twigs on that you’re targeting them. If you end up doing too well, people definitely notice and team up to knock you out. Then when the numbers fall, cross your fingers and hope for the best. Quote
Paid Members FLips Posted June 10, 2025 Paid Members Posted June 10, 2025 I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, check out F-Zero 99 as well. If you forced me to make a Top 10 Switch games right this second, it would be in there. Quote

RedTwoster Posted June 10, 2025 Author Posted June 10, 2025 Is this your first experience of any Switch console, @DavidB6937? Quote

Nah i had a Switch since day 1 but to be honest the kids played it a lot and I didn't get much of a chance. Only things I really ended up playing were Odyssey, Mario Kart and then the family games and Mario Party etc. But I'm mostly keeping the Switch 2 hostage now and they can play on the originals. Quote
Paid Members hallicks Posted June 10, 2025 Paid Members Posted June 10, 2025 Downloaded Tetris 99 this evening. Everyone is such a bastard. Quote
RedTwoster Posted June 13, 2025 Author Posted June 13, 2025 (edited) One thing I hate about Mario Kart World is that there’s no way of tracking how many challenges there are in each area compared to how many you’ve done. I’m a completionist with this kind of thing, so I’d very much like to know. I’m assuming it’s a deliberate design choice for some reason, because it seems like a very obvious oversight. One I hope they address in a patch. Edited June 13, 2025 by RedTwoster Quote
Paid Members Jazzy G Posted June 13, 2025 Paid Members Posted June 13, 2025 I think if you look at the map there are squares above each location that get filled as you do the p-switch stuff, like the ones on each character to show how many costumes you've unlocked. Quote
