I had completely forgotten to order it, so thanks for the reminder. Should be waiting for me when I finish work tomorrow. I haven’t watched much gameplay, but it seems you can smash the shit out of absolutely anything. Can’t bloody wait.

I’ve pre ordered Donkey Kong from Game Collection was dispatched yesterday so should receive it tomorrow, fingers crossed. Got the new pro controller yesterday, a big upgrade from the Joy Cons

Company of Heroes may well be my favourite game of all time, at least top 3.

They released it on Switch a couple of years ago and I resisted as I wasn’t sure how I’d get on with the controls. Now Switch 2 has mouse controls, I’m tempted to pick it up but I’m not sure if the they would just work, or only if the developer were to release a patch to support it. YouTube and Googling has drawn a blank.

On another note, and as others have suggested, Donkey Kong Bonanza is getting rave reviews. CDKeys are selling a download code for £55 already, which is silly money for a digital game, but it’s still far cheaper than anywhere else I’ve found.

I’ve been playing Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom and it’s transformative on Switch 2. All framerate issues gone, graphics have gotten a very decent upgrade and it plays lovely in handheld. It feels like a proper Zelda game, too, with classic dungeons and puzzles. A Link to the Past has also received the free update treatment, so I’ll likely try that again as the constant frame pacing issues on the original made it an absolute chore to play.

Despite my initial disappointing of Marion Kart World, I’ve been getting into it more. That with big graphical and frame rate updates to Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, I’m loving the Switch 2 so far.

DK Bananza is a definite Game of the Year contender for me. I’m not sure anything will dislodge Clair Obscur (I’ve not finished DK yet, so I don’t want to be too definitive about that) but I’ll say this - if DK had released in 2024, Astro Bot would not have been my Game of the Year, and I absolutely love Astro Bot.

After a couple of years of trying Tears of the Kingdom then putting it aside because I knew I’d need some proper time to play it and then it becoming impossible to play as my Switch was dead and every time I’d take my sons Switch out from deep hibernation he’d remember he had a Switch and want to play it himself I’ve gotten a Switch 2 and am finally getting stuck in. I’ve just gotten the hand glider and had my first exhibition into the depths. 
 

It’s just the right balance of Breath of the Wild and new stuff for me to know there’ll be a couple of hundred hours sunk in to this. One of the things I’ve struggled with early doors is remembering all the different tools at my disposal and taking long cuts when a quick ascension or bridge would have made it a lot quicker. It’s Zelda though so no time is ever wasted.

A quick jaunt around the castle has me a couple of nice early game op weapons and armour. Not sure how I’ll get on with The Depths seeing as as a rule dark labyrinthian levels are up there with under water levels as my gaming kryptonite. 
 

The way like to play these games is by planning my own little missions and just exploring but it seems keen to keep me on the main quest path. I’m hoping that now I’ve done the bare minimum of quests I can open up the game nicely and won’t be too severely punished for exploring areas I probably shouldn’t be hanging around yet. I’ve just gone back up to the Great Sky Island to get the stuff I missed then it’s on to Rito Village.

Just came here to say the same thing. It’s inventive, gorgeous, funny and unputdownable. And probably has the best environmental destruction in any game I’ve played.

The only complaint I have really is that it’s only partially voice acted. My daughter loves playing on assist mode, but she’s a toddler and can’t read. I can read the dialogue out obviously, but there will be kids out there unable to understand the story, which is a shame really. But the gameplay is fantastic, and getting to play it with my daughter is brilliant.

Im about an hour into DK Bananza and I’m enjoying it so far, I’ve pretty much stayed spoiler free as well so that will make it better for me

Vicky has been enjoying DK. I picked up the Bioshock remastered collection for £8 in an eShop sale this morning. I'm going to be getting hold of the next season pass for Street Fighter 6 soon so I can be Sagat.

Street Fighter 6 feels surprisingly perfect on a handheld, I’ve really enjoyed what I’ve played of it so far. It’s kind of fallen on the back burner because of Bananza, but I’m looking forward to playing more of it if/when I have the time.

I was using the modern controls to play it in handheld mode, but usually stick it in my play and charge stand with a fight pad or stick plugged into it. I've been trying to get the hang of playing on a hitbox as well, but I get a bit of RSI after a while.

Interesting! I switched to a leverless pad because of my RSI.. I find it a lot gentler on my hand than a pad was.
