The eShop does this thing where their algorithm will try to recommend you games based on what you play and own but so far it's managed to recommend me three games that are already on my wish list, and one that I already own so I think it needs more work. Still better than the one on the Microsoft store, not not as good as the PlayStation one.

Well in the end it fell through. 

Switch never arrived and had to get a refund. Will obviously have to return it if it arrives but I suspect that it's lost, since it was last scanned at the distribution centre Saturday morning and there has been no updates since and they were quick to okay a refund. 

To be fair the customer support (amazon) was fast, professional and polite. 

Will probably now hold off on buying one until the new year. Doesn't seem to be a shortage of the system, so no rush.

Honestly, it’s pretty good even just using it as a Switch pro.

I’d recommend Donkey Kong Bananza for sure though, it’s great fun. Final Fantasy Tactics is also worth your time, as is the Trails remake (even though I think it’s overrated and badly written, the sidequests are fun). I’m a fan of Mario Kart World also, although I know that’s not been everyone’s favourite game. Pokemon Legends ZA is also worth mnother good first party game, if that’s your thing. No idea how it compares to the Switch 1 version.

The ports of Cyberpunk and Street Fighter 6 are excellent, as is Star Wars Outlaws - they all get me excited about what is possible on the system.

Fantasy Life I is a very underrated launch game, and the Switch 2 upgrade for BOTW is worth getting - it lifts the game pretty significantly. I imagine the same could be said for TOTK, but I’ve not bothered buying that one.

Hitman: World of Assassination is also a very enjoyable handheld game. 

In short, there’s a nice little library already assembled for the system and even at this early stage of the console’s life, third party titles are going on sale fairly quickly. Looking forward to reading your thoughts on your new console.

EDIT: …and now I’ve read your second post. Sorry to hear that, but I would definitely recommend it, I’m really enjoying my Switch 2.

Today is the day. I'm joining the Switch 2 Club, with my console ready to collect at Curry's later.

As excited as I was for Mario Kart (which I then played and didn't think much of), Donkey Kong and Metroid, it ended up being Pokopia that pushed me over the edge into getting one. Looks fantastic and will fill that big Animal Crossing sized hole in my heart. I did get the Mario Kart bundle because it's Mario Kart for less than half price so it makes sense, and I'm hoping that putting more time into it will make me appreciate it more.

I'll be getting a Pro Controller in the next month or two, and I'm hoping the bigger buttons on the Switch 2 will suffice as playing the original with those tiny buttons gave me cramp. Outside of that I'll look at eventually playing Metroid and DK but the next game I'm 100% buying is Pokemon Wind. I had a blast with Scarlett even if it did look and run like shit, so this one is exciting.

My youngest spends about 50% of the weekend driving round the open world bit of the game, so it’s doing something right.

I’ve never played Mario Sunshine so I’m hoping they sort it out and release it for Switch online soon. Not sure when I’ll have the time for it, but still!

I also got a Switch 2, eventually. Funnily enough I also got mine from Curry's. 

Only played Switch 1 games on it so far. Got the Xenoblade Chronicles X upgrade.

Pokopia is an absolute delight. As a previous Harvest Moon and Viva Piñata addict who also loves Pokemon, it is a game I probably shouldn’t be allowed to have. Hammered my journeys to London and back for WrestleMania Queendom and had a 4am finish on it last night, Legit need to set an alarm to make myself stop because the time just vanishes.

Releasing on the same day as Spire 2 early access is downright cruel. I’m glad I already had quite a few tickets for real world things booked for this month or I may never have gone outside again.

There’s been a really nice firmware update today, that allows you to toggle a new option that will run original Switch games in docked mode when playing in handheld on the Switch 2.

It seems to be making games look a lot nicer due to the resolution bump and given the docked mode on the original console offered better effects and textures etc.

I think I'm in the minority, but I feel absolutely nothing when it comes to the Ocarina remake. It seems like a 1:1 thing with a few bells and whistles attached; closer to the Star Fox upgrade rather than what we got with FFVII or even the Resident Evil games. I'm sure it'll be good, but I'm finding it hard to feel enthusiastic about it. 

I'm looking forward to the main Direct today, though. Hopefully there will be a few nice surprises in there, particularly since there's a Treehouse immediately after showcasing...something.

I’m the opposite in that it’s exactly what I wanted. The original game but it looks better, plays better and has a load of QoL improvements. I enjoyed FFVII Remake but it padded it with so much bollocks and turned an already convoluted story into more of a mess. Rebirth I’ve tried and gave up on twice now because it’s such a long paint by numbers slog, it may as well be a Ubisoft game. Stretching it over 3 games in the space of 7 years is criminal to retell the story of a PS1 game as well.

I think it looks stunning and I can't wait to play it again and I'm really glad they haven't fucked around with it too much.

Definitely curious about today's Direct too. Could be a costly few months..

I can't complain too much, I've had a lot of good gaming on my Switch 2 and I've barely touched my other consoles as a result. Not everything needs to appeal to me, and it always feels like there's something fun around the corner. Given the upcoming release schedule, I'm not sure I'll need much else between now and the end of the year when I have Fire Emblem, FF Resonance and Trails pt 2 to look forward to.

I read an article saying how OOT’s new graphics were controversial and have divided fans, so I expected something quite left of field. So I was nicely surprised to see they were just beautiful and was left scratching my head over how people would be disappointed.

Gamers are a funny bunch.

A very odd Direct, presumably because they were contractually obliged to run one. I'm a bit disappointed at the Mario Kart World update though - granted it's free, but there's so much more they could do with that game. The open world is packed with potential and I'd happily pay for something that expands on it. I hope they do that soon, it feels overdue. 

I'm looking forward to Metroid Ravenous, though - Dread was fantastic and this looked all sorts of good. I really hope they manage to build on what they achieved with Dread and avoid something as divisive as Prime 4. 

The 3D Kirby, I'll probably buy - I could take it or leave it, though. I'm someone who much prefers the chaotic fun of 2D Kirby, particularly multiplayer. But hey, the last 3D game was very well received critically so they're obviously doing a smart thing by making another one.

That new Metroid looks fucking awesome and a million times more excited for that than Prime 4.

Must admit I haven't played a Kirby game in forever, although I do remember enjoying Kirby's Dream Land and Kirby's Pinball Land but we won't talk about how long ago those were.
