Paid Members DEF Posted April 18, 2025 Paid Members Posted April 18, 2025 (edited) Wrestlecon Supershow was good fun. Nothing great but fun. Wrestlecon Supershow live last night with the Butterbean match. It was a good show. Suzuki Vs Butterbean was barely a match however I actually found it quite sweet and almost emotional. In the wrong hands it would have come across as exploitation but they played it very straight and everyone including the fans sold it as if it was legit. They did it in three barely structured 3 minute rounds. As if it was a shoot fight. UWF style. If you know how bad a shape Butterbean was in before DDP did his magic it feels like a miracle he could get one last bit of glory. Was it good? Fuck no, Butterbean is really in no condition to be in the ring however but I don't think it matters that it wasn't good or even close to good. He got a moment out of it. The rest of the show had a bit of everything. Everything else was good solid wrastlin. Fun ten man tag with a bunch of mental Lucha at the start. Maki Ito Vs Mickie James in her first match in at least a year was a surprise. Mickie really should still be on the roster for WWE or AEW. She's still in great ring shape. Bloodsport 13 was great. I recognise it's not going to be for everyone but as a technical wrestling/grappling pervert I freaking loved it. Thatcher Vs Pete Dunne, Zack Sabre Vs Jonathan Grisham and Gabe Kidd Vs Josh Barnett being the top matches honestly the whole three hours was a delight. But the highlight for me was Nattie Neidhart Vs Miyu Yamashita. Seeing Nattie do something different was awesome. She went full ground and pound strong style. That's one of my issues with WWE. Their inflexibility of how they present wrestling. People like Nattie who clearly have talent not being able to evolve because the house style is all you are allowed to do. Kfogg1991 Posted April 18, 2025 Posted April 18, 2025 I've watched quite a few shows so far and personally think it's been slightly underwhelming and under par compared to previous years however without question the best show so far is bloodsport which I'm shocked about because it's not been for me bar the odd bout here and there but this was fantastic..... Apart from a unacceptable negative which is every WWE figure won their bout and it started to become obvious the outcome after a couple had finished and this is exactly why it's not a good thing to work together with the WWE and I don't believe the amount of new viewers outweighs your talent unanimously losing against the superstars because why would you get behind or continue watching afterwards and that hurt the standing of GCW personally but that's just my feelings I understand. The only solution I can think of is to book WWE folk against WWE ID talent. That way when win it's just hurting there own brand. Word is that WWE don't insist on WWE ID talent going over so also book them against your top guys to do the job. Quote
DavidB6937 Posted April 18, 2025 Posted April 18, 2025 WWE talent have lost on previous Bloodsport shows though so that's not really a thing. Quote
RIDDUM_N_STYLE Posted April 18, 2025 Posted April 18, 2025 Bold move from Progress putting the Proteus title on Stingray from Cobra Kai, nice surprise to hear former NXT commentator Rich Bocchini doing PBP for the show as well Quote
Paid Members LaGoosh Posted April 19, 2025 Paid Members Posted April 19, 2025 I've never enjoyed a Natalya match before but that Bloodsport match was awesome. I'd love to see that version of Natalya in AEW. Quote
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted April 19, 2025 Paid Members Posted April 19, 2025 Just saw a clip of the Sabu thing. Granted I’m only going off a 5 second clip but, Christ, saddest shit I’ve seen in a while. He looks ancient, fat and he’s wearing these weird tight trousers and trainers which doesn’t look right. Oh and he’s falling backwards through barbed wire and a board, and landing straight on his head on the floor. Don’t think I’ll bother seeking out the rest of that match. Quote
