Browser Brady Posted August 14 Posted August 14 (edited) What if Hulk Hogan doesn’t sign a contract extension in WCW in May 98. What a contract btw…….. ”Hulk Hogan signed a massive four-year WCW contract extension on May 29, 1998, running through May 28, 2002. Widely considered one of the most lucrative deals in wrestling history, it guaranteed him a $2 million signing bonus, a $675,000 minimum per pay-per-view, and roughly $8 million annually.” Edited August 14 by Browser Brady Quote

Anybody who thinks otherwise are delusional. I don't think it'd have lasted long, but he would have. And if Hogan's gone, WCW may have a shot at surviving 2001. But then again, Hogan may have gone back to Turner after Vince refused to let him pin Austin and Rock in the same match or something. Quote

If Vince would have brought him back, he wouldn't have signed the contract. He let it run deliberately, as he usually did but the WWF had no interest in him - at that price at any rate - and he was just coming off a period of trying to prove how invaluable he was to WCW by taking himself off TV for the basketball play-off preemptions and picking and choosing his PPV and it hadn't worked because WCW business was on fire. If Bischoff had called his bluff right then and there, that company lasts years and years longer. Quote
Paid Members BomberPat Posted August 14 Paid Members Posted August 14 1998 might be the one time that Vince wouldn't have gone running back to Hogan, though I'd still never rule it out. I suppose the bigger What If? is what happens if Bischoff calls his bluff, and Vince doesn't bite. Quote

This has just conjured the image of red and yellow Hulk Hogan in the ECW Arena in the late 90s and I can't decide if I hate it or love it. Quote

IIRC Powerslam said Dustin was supposed to be coming in as a cowboy originally. I think it was supposed to be a sort of throwback Hollywood style gun-slinger Quote
The Reverend Posted August 14 Posted August 14 Mine is What If Sky had never run WWF programming. Would ITV have picked it up to replace WOS? Would another channel, perhaps channel 4, taken it on? Or would it have gone pretty much under the radar in the UK until the rise of the internet? It certainly would've made for some massive changes. Quote
Paid Members gmoney Posted August 14 Paid Members Posted August 14 (edited) It already was on ITV wasn't it? On a rotating basis with Joint Promotions and All Star. Not sure how long that lasted, and assume it was Sky picking it up that put a stop to it. EDIT: no it was cancelled along with all the other wrestling on ITV by big bad Greg Dyke.
