Johnnyreggae Posted May 12 Posted May 12 Owen vs ultimo dragon, Justin liger, even matches with regal, malenko, benoit and Eddie g the list goes on. But i can't help but feel like they wouldn't have known what to do with him. He would have great matches with everyone but feel they would reignite the feud with bret not long after. Would have made more sense if Owen joined Hogan and the NWO black and White and Bret has to go through them all to get to Hogan. Quote
AshC Posted May 12 Posted May 12 Oh man, I'd never considered that... whiny 94 Owen as an nWo sellout, a thorn in the side for Bret in his quest to take down Hollywood Hogan. What might have been. Quote
Paid Members BomberPat Posted May 12 Paid Members Posted May 12 in fairness, Owen already had matches with Liger and Dragon in NJPW and WAR respectively, and with Benoit in NJPW, Stampede, and UWA (and, madly, in the WWF in 1995). It would have been fantastic to see him work with Regal or Eddy Guerrero, for sure, though I can't look at Bret Hart's run in WCW and think that Owen would have been booked well there. Obviously the more morbid answer is that if Owen had worked for WCW he would still be alive, though, Quote

That’s the obvious and main thing. 5 hours ago, SuperBacon said: At the same time as Bret? Phwoar, think about all the cruiserweights he could've faced and had crackers with. Like Pat said, it’s a nice idea in theory but the reality would’ve probably been very underwhelming. He most likely would’ve faced some of the names you’d want to see him against but they’d fall short of expectations and just end up being three minute letdowns on Nitro or Thunder with a NWO B-Team run in DQ finish for no reason. If they couldn’t capitalise on Bret coming off the best year of his career and ironing out Vince McMahon, I doubt they’d have had anything for Owen either sadly. I’m sure we’d have got some good stuff though and, yeah, he’d probably still be with us so with hindsight it’s the route I wish history would’ve taken. Quote

I was going to ask this not so much Scott Hall but Nash cause going into 96 he's probably the most interesting character. He was kind of doing the Steve Austin type tweener role. Reason I don't say Scott Hall in late 95/96 he was starting to go down the card. Quote

I feel like we quite possibly never get the Rock or Austin at the top of the card. I can see 1997 being very different. We would still get attitude era in some capacity but focused more around the Kliq. WCW either goes out of business much earlier or becomes something akin to what TNA was for most of its glory years, just a TV product in a studio as they have no hot NWO storyline to go nuclear. Bischoff bins off the expensive old WWF lot as things don't improve and runs a much tighter product. In WWF it could go either way but a heel turn for Shawn where he drops the belt to Razor would be a strong prediction. We then see the main events of Brett, Shawn, Diesel, Razor with additional Mankingd Taker, Sid, Bulldog and maybe Austin into the millennium. Wrestling becomes a very niche product in the west as it never reaches the 98-02 peak it did. Quote

He would of had a few extra years in WWE His return wouldn't have been as big. His AEW run however you feel about him or AEW or anything else, made WWE want him back. In 2019, he'd be calling them. In 2023. They called him. Quote

So if Vince changed his mind maybe he would have put Punk through a whole humiliation tour which would have been pretty funny. They definitely wouldn't have treated him anywhere near as big a deal as he did when he joined after AEW sacked him. Quote
Johnnyreggae Posted May 27 Posted May 27 What if the British bulldog never joined wcw and got injured in 98 and stayed in the wwf the whole time. Could he have become champion and who could he have fended with? Quote
Johnnyreggae Posted May 27 Posted May 27 Would the big boss man have gotten over if he had returned in 98 as good guy police officer instead of special corporation security? Quote
