Daveigh Chase, best known for her roles as Samantha Darko in Donnie Darko, Chihiro in the English dub of Spirited Away, Lilo in the original Lilo & Stitch and Samara in the U.S. remake of The Ring, has passed away aged just 35 due to Sepsis after contracting Meningitis.

James Burrows - your man who directed Friends, that one with the nerds and more importantly Cheers - has popped off.

Friends is/was - no matter what you think about it now because of the replays - one of the very best comedies we’ll ever see.

Cheers, though? Next level. I’d argue it’s got the highest laugh per minute ratio of any US comedy. The direction of that show was so important given the layout of the set; imagine working with the best script that had hit anyone at that point and having to make it work in what essentially was a box. He made that bar come alive using nothing but angles and timing.

The actors and their lines of course made the show, but directing it within such a confined space is nothing short of a miracle.

David Daker has died aged 90.  In basically every tv show in the 70’s and 80’s, generally as a miserable middle aged bloke.  Was a regular in Boon and was just one of those reliable faces you saw on TV well in and week out.

Penelope Keith aged 86. Very much a stalwart of British TV comedy in the 70's/80's and much more.

She's one of those who was around so long and did so much, I just couldn't imagine her not being around any more. Great comedy actor. One of the most distinctive voices you'll ever hear, as well. She's a lot of fun on radio - I particularly enjoyed her as the title character in Agatha Raisin. And, of course, her performances as Margo Leadbetter in The Good Life constitute one of the most memorable runs in British comedy.

She was fantastic in To The Manor Born as well. The chemistry she had with all the other leads in The Good Life was exceptional.

I think it's often forgotten how enormous To the Manor Born Was — the series one finale was the highest rated recorded show of the 1970s.

It's all on the iPlayer, or it was a while back including the reunion episode. Brilliant show and she was the perfect choice to play Audrey.

Hopefully something of interest to @Carbomb & @Jazzy G To The Manor Born was restaged for radio (something quite common back in the day).

It was on BBC Sounds last year and was pretty good.

Peter Bowles must have refused or been unavailable as Richard De Vere was played by Keith Barron.

Appalling brewery owner Humphrey Smith gone and not missed by many.

Hopefully many shuttered pubs, vital for their communities will be reopening with new landlords in the coming months.
