yeah, Tintin in the Congo is abhorrent. There's an interesting story in Hergé starting out as a naïve and sometimes unwitting collaborator with fascism and colonialism, and moving further away from it throughout his career.

It is, but I'd say it's still an interesting read for a Tintin fan, although I'd understand why some would stay away and I wouldn't let young children read it. It was the final Tintin I'd read and it took me back a bit. I know In America and Blue Lotus have some dodgy stereotypes in them but this was next level. I suppose you have to look at context, it was originally written in 1930 and also Herge did speak up against racism in that same decade.

Same. I always thought it was because I was a kid and Asterix was funny, and Tintin was slow and boring as fuck, but it turns out I was just a really politically conscious and wise child without knowing it.
