Mr_Danger Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 I wonder if they’re playing with Cody’s character a bit to set up a triple threat between him, Orton and Carpool Kev that will lead in to Cody vs Orton with Orton as the face. Orton is a pretty boring heel but as a (preferably) moustachioed bad ass who just really enjoys punching people and being hench as fuck alongside his ‘I used to be a twat but now I’m alright’ real life persona I think the dynamic will be way more interesting. King Pitcos Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 Loved that show. I don’t know if I’d have enjoyed it as much live with the ads, but watching after the fact with the ads cut, it’s probably my most enjoyable wrestling event of the year. Felt like it had no filler at all. Happy for Chelsea Green. And I’m very much enjoying the Cody/Owens story. Quote
AnotherCrapUsername Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 Kevin Owens really is the gift that keeps on giving. Quote

Paid Members Supremo Posted December 15, 2024 Paid Members Posted December 15, 2024 (edited) It’s the first good use of Hunter in a long, long time. A real Stone-Cold-Vince-Tyson, “YOU RUINED IT!” energy. The form Kevin Owens is in, I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up running Hunter over with his car or something. Reckon the daft racist could take a Stunner? But yeah. You can definitely smell it. They’re flirting with the idea of turning Cody into a meta, overpushed Cena figure. The balls on this company to even consider that an option! Edited December 15, 2024 by Supremo Quote
Vamp Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 The arena set up felt a little odd to me. The entrance was great and I liked the nostalgic ropes and referee shirts but it felt odd that the steel barricades were only for the entrance and not around ringside and it just felt a bit half arsed. Drew vs. Sami Starting the show with a match that felt like filler was an odd choice. I don't think this match showcased either of them particularly well and I'm not entirely sure what the purpose was. Liv vs. Iyo I thought Liv's recovery of the Iyo stumble was really good. Iyo's knee strike looked brutal. I enjoyed this match but then Rhea came out at the end and Liv just stood there while she did her stomp thing and I decided to retract all the stars I'd given this match. Gunther vs. Priest vs. Balor I see Fin's e-fedder gimmick has reached the random headgear stage. Gunther's powerbomb on the stairs was scary looking but the save was really impressive. Chelsea vs. Michin I take it people who regularly watch have discussed how shit Michin is as a name. I'm slightly baffled as to why Piper was at ringside for this match yet no one was at ringside for any of the other matches. Surely this is the one where ban anyone from ringside. Whatever. Fun match. Cody vs. Owens Considering Ventura probably doesn't give a shit about wrestling anymore I thought he did a real good job. This was a bit odd, because it felt like the story of the match was meant to be Kevin Owens aggressively attacking Cody's ankle but I'm not sure I got much of a sense of that from the way the match was wrestled. It felt like Cody did moves, sold the ankle briefly, then there was no follow up. My biggest problem with the show was that there was too much wrestling. I could have done with some silly segments with legends or maybe some Christmas hijinks. Something that would have been a lot closer in tone to the original SNMEs. Quote
NeverYield Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 Well I thoroughly enjoyed that, love a bit of nostalgia, even though the original SNME was way before my time, KO with the Winged Eagle belt was brilliant, great fit for him. Quote

Sorry for having an opinion of the sexual abuse enabling, possibly racist cunt. @DavidB6937 to answer your question, same things others have said about presentation. But I would also say that SNME is the perfect platform (along with Raw Day 1 on Netflix) to grab new viewers. Prime Time NBC on a Saturday may not be the best day to be on, but they will definitely get new eyes on the product and I felt it was a pretty safe show in terms of results and even featured talent. That would have been perfect for a Carmelo Hayes match, or something a little bit more exciting. As I said, thought it was a mostly good 2 hours, but a shock or surprise win would have been even better. Edited December 15, 2024 by Hannibal Scorch Quote

If only there was a similar method you could use to avoid seeing sexy abuse enabling possible racists on your wrestling viewing device of choice. Quote

Paid Members FLips Posted December 15, 2024 Paid Members Posted December 15, 2024 I forgot to mention, though I'm sure someone else has, but during the main event they accidentally still had live commentary mics during the picture in picture. They were talking about bringing up Kevin's aggression and pulling the trigger, and targetting the foot. As soon as break finished they immediately repeated it to the live audience. Fascinating little peek. Quote
