The idea behind this topic is simple -and the idea is to capture a few recommendations that don’t necessarily merit the creation of a thread. It might work well, it might not work at all - but we’ll see how it goes. 

The idea is to share your top 5s of anything you like. My first one, is…

TOP 5 SHORT VIDEOGAMES

And by this, I mean videogames you can complete fairly quickly - for those of us with limited free time! 

5. Super Mario RPG (around 15-hours to complete) - I absolutely love this game, and although its one of the longer games on this list, it’s certainly short for a JRPG. It’s got a real warmth to it, and it’s just generally a fun game. I’d recommend the Switch remake over the original thanks to several quality of life improvements. 

4. Klaus (around 6-hours) - an indie game that seemed to slip under the radar even at the time, but I love it. It’s a 2D puzzle-platformer which breaks the fourth wall now and again - it’s driven by a very strong story, with gameplay that is kind of similar to Super Meat Boy, but less punishing. It’s a lot of fun - give it a go, you won’t regret it.

3. Titanfall 2 (6-7 hours) - I played this recently on the Steam Deck, after picking it up for next to nothing on sale. To be clear, my recommendation is for the single player campaign, which is loads of fun. It’s a FPS game, and one of the best I’ve ever played at that. It doesn’t seem to get as much attention as I’d say it merits. But given the low price on all systems and how bloody good it is, it’s well worth your time.

2. Limbo/Inside (3.5 hours each) - a bit of a cheat pick here, but they’re both very similar and you can probably pick them up as a collection somewhere so…I’m going with a joint pick. They’re narrative driven puzzle platform games I suppose, but very different to Klaus. The narrative is also purposely vague - you don’t really know what’s going on in either game, but you don’t need to - it adds to the tense atmosphere and general feeling that something sinister is going on. I loved both games, but if you only pick up one, I’d edge towards that being Limbo.

1. A Short Hike (around 2-hours) - I 100% completed this game as I loved it so much, and it really left me feeling emotional although I can’t put my finger on why. There’s something really beautiful about it. It’s a short 3D platformer, where you go - as the title suggests - on a short hike, helping people along the way, gradually increasing your abilities allowing you to venture higher. I really don’t want to say too much about this one as it’s best experienced going in blind, but I will say that I don’t think there’s a person on this forum who wouldn’t enjoy it - I feel that strongly about how good it is. Give it a try, you won’t regret it.

Top 5 Video Games ruined by their fanbases.

1. Undertale. A unique and memorable game with one of the best soundtracks in recent years. Don’t get too invested though unless you like disgusting fan art and tedious long fan theories.

2. Sonic the Hedgehog. Hope you like furry porn. Degenerate freaks.

3. Super Smash Bros. I entered a tag tournament once where we used the supplied Wii Remote and and Nunchuck setup. Everyone else there brought their own Gamecube controller. Place fucking stank.

4. Pokemon. See Sonic the Hedgehog, except every time a new game comes out everyone moans about it.

5. Call of Duty. Wildly racist and full of screaming kids. Brutal.
