deathrey Posted January 14 Posted January 14 (edited) In her defence, genuinely, scented toilet paper is bad for women, it can give us thrush and irritate a very sensitive area which does not like artificial fragrance. I've had a couple of issues needed sorting recently and knew I'd get the answers I needed. Firstly was staying somewhere with a radiator with a nob I'd never seen before (waheeeeeeeey) and needed to know how it turned on. Watched this top lad. Secondly, my car has some mould in it (second Ford Focus to have this issue, seems its a common problem) and watched this absolute geezer detail how to properly get rid of it. Just fantastic that people take the time to explain these things. Like the rad guy says might be very simple for some, but some people don't know. Quote
NeverYield Posted January 31 Posted January 31 Yeah if people focus tutorials can be quality, a mate of mine wanted a little wall and a brick built BBQ putting up, and I said I'd put them up for him, but he said he wanted to do it as a DIY project, he watched heaps of brickwork videos and tutorials on YT and practised for a bit and the end result wasn't too bad at all! I'm no mechanic but I've serviced a van of mine before from watching YT vids, and picked up various other tips on motor maintenance. Quote

Paid Members waters44 Posted February 1 Paid Members Posted February 1 The trouble with YouTube tutorials is the sense of confidence they give you. I’d never really done any DIY before we bought this house and I had to learn fast as there was a lot of issues and my Dad decided to take an early trip to the Heavens. First job was to put up a curtain pole. I thought that would be ok, watched some YouTube videos and felt like it was such an easy job that would take five minutes I drill the first hole. Takes me ages and i’m having to push really hard with this little drill (turns out I was drilling into a lintel). Stick a plug in, no problem. Screw the screw in but it won’t go in the whole way. I want to panic but I relax, leave it and move on to the next hole. Drill again and I just can’t get the whole deep enough, the drill is screaming but just can’t do the job. I’m sweating now and getting pissed off with it to be honest. So I decide to just get back to square one and do it another day So I go back to the plug with the screw not in properly. Try to unscrew it but shear the head off it so now I’m completely stuck. The screw is wedged in to the wall and I can’t unscrew it. I’m trying everything I can think of, pliers etc but just damaging the wall even more. So I do what I usually do in states of panic and sit in the local graveyard to have a good cry By the time I got back my wife had got my mate round, he got his “nips” out to get the screw out, used his SDS drill to slice through the lintel easily and had the curtain pole up in minutes. Ever since, regardless of if I’m putting up a lightweight mirror or shelf, I use a 6mm bit on a SDS drill, red plug and the same size screw. Works a charm every time now. Quote

Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted February 1 Moderators Posted February 1 That again sounds a lot like my experience of trying to drill in to a lintel with some small notable differences. Instead of the healthy response of having a little cry, I got very angry and tried to find someone else to blame for my ineptitude and ignorance. And then as it was a fairly lightweight blind I was putting up I just stuck the brackets up with gorilla glue, and let the header of the blind cover up the massive hole in the stone I made digging the screw out.
