Yep, he was one of the very best to do it. He’s one of those who people not that into music don’t know who he is but you could play them ten of his songs and they’d know all of them.

If he'd just written Always Something There to Remind Me you'd say genius, that's one of the best songs ever written. But he's got about 25 songs just as good, and loads more bubbling under.

94 is a decent age, and as has already been said here he wrote some absolutely cracking songs. I bet BBC4 has a great tribute night lined up for him tomorrow.

Because I am Old, about 10 years ago Burt had a Best Of album out. I asked for it for a birthday, it was a double CD with about 40 songs and they were all fucking ace. What a talent.

Another one I thought was already dead.

You could try the Isaac Hayes version of Walk On By to try and get you in the mood for your tribute.

I think I bought the same one and it is fantastic. Love Burt, 94 is a great run, but it’s a shame.

Pretty certain I had the same one too. And again, inspired by Austin Powers. Probably one of the best two pure songwriters of all time along with Brain Wilson. I am really going to be heartbroken when he goes.
