DavidB6937 Posted September 15 Posted September 15 Outside of the weird tribalistic rubbish that occasionally makes its way onto my timelines, these have been some enjoyable shows over the past week or so. Good atmosphere and just people generally enjoying the product - and not just in a 'shut up and enjoy yourselves!' TKO executive kinda way. I'm okay with Penta losing. He didn't need the win and he looked super competitive here. Would it have been a good moment? Absolutely, but if he's not factoring into their immediate plans for the main event scene then I'm not sure hot shotting to him is beneficial. Pros and cons either side really. But yeah, mostly solid show for the local market I thought. Played to their strengths. LA Knight at MITB seems to just be avoiding the disappointment of him not winning MITB by replacing it with not winning the title instead. Odd. Quote

The company had done a pretty decent job over the recent shows of building up that hope - Stephanie winning, El Grande winning etc. They knew what they were doing. Quote

That felt like it came out of nowhere, going back to a guy I never thought would ever get another sniff of a World Title. So, if Sami can be Champion again, it’s not out if the realm of possibility that this absolute superstar could become Champion too. What a fucking look. They should have just done it. Imagine the shot of him jumping back on the horse with the belt, riding off into the sunset. He’d be set for life. It’s a shame Hunter is one of the most cowardly bookers of all time, arguably even more scared of taking big swings than Vince was, because Penta winning would have felt seismic. It could’ve massively helped optics, too. With so many AEW guys floundering in WWE, the, “Tony Fumbled,” chants all but silenced, it would’ve been a big statement to put a former AEW guy over so huge. As it is, I can’t fathom any AEW guys even considering making the jump. Plus, that could’ve resulted in Cody, Punk and Roman in Money in the Bank! Imagine that! Absolutely fascinating on both a surface and political level! But yeah, biggest takeaway was remembering how this spot, with Orange Cassidy and Penta no-selling Canadian Desteoyers, generated so much discourse from WWE fans. “This is stupid!” “This isn’t real wrestling!” Quite funny to imagine them watching Roman Reigns, Mr. WWE, getting on the fun and doing the same. Penta would not have had to hold it long if they didn't want him to but it would have made huge headlines and social media views, which is what WWE/TKO likes and, who knows, just like when Edge beat Cena in 2006 - Penta might have surprised people and got over better than they thought so that they decided to put the title on him longer the next time. So much for the tease with Royce Keys group being there and going "Hey Roman" too. "Oh no, these psycho, hard nuts are outside and....oh, they've done fuck all". Oh well.... In my mind, that made it far less likely that Penta was winning too but not hard to see why some less cynical would have thought otherwise. Quote

The ref's hands change position a bit when the camera switches while Orange is in mid-air. I think it was a sequence of three Canadian Destroyers rather than two - Orange did two that just happened to pretty much be in exactly the same place. Quote
