Seeing so many people speculating and jumping straight to the conclusion that Ricky Hatton must’ve committed suicide and that it can’t possibly be due to natural causes. Loads of tribute tweets ending with “men…SPEAK UP” and stuff like that. Of course the mental health message (and not just aimed at men) is always valuable but I think it’s really shitty to just immediately attach that to Hatton’s death. Nobody knows the cause yet.

I think, unfortunately, the way these things are announced these days as "no suspicious circumstances" and no cause of death generally suggest suicide, especially when talking about an otherwise healthy 46 year old. Some TV news had a crawler for getting help alongside the story so it's obviously the assumption there too.

Head nice words from Gary Neville for Ricky last night. Two real champions of Manchester. Never heard anyone say a bad work about Ricky. He was a phenomenal boxer, utter superstar and always felt like an everyman. One with a load of cash and a level of fame I don't know if I could handle, but a guy who always gave back to his city and had time for everyone.

Was at footy yesterday and everyone was shocked and a bit crushed by hearing the news.

It's no age but he lived a life most could never dream of. Sleep tight, Hitman.

Yeah I get that. There’s just something unpleasant about the speculation for me when it hasn’t actually been confirmed yet. But from listening to people in Boxing give their tributes, no-one’s outright saying it but you can kind of read between the lines with some of them and unfortunately it does seem to be pointing in that direction. Almost every single one talks about what a great guy and fighter he was, but always with a ‘he had his battles with depression though’ tacked on the end.

I looked at his Twitter earlier and right up to Saturday afternoon he was on there pushing CBD stuff. Next day he was gone.

Who the fuck is Alan Picasso and why is Inoue fighting him?

I think it's just, this is all set up to build to the Inoue vs Nakatani fight. But apparently the guy they have given Nakatani is a bit of a handful. Unbeaten, good chin and can hit really hard. The type who can mess up, or at least delay a planned super fight.

I've also seen some comments that outside the Inoue fight, pretty much all of these are very tricky fights for the Japanese guys. Alan Picasso himself is supposed to be decent, but lacks power, and will more than likely march straight into a big knockout.

Random one but if you’re stuck indoors this rainy Friday night and fancy watching one of the greatest fights ever filmed, here it is…

Bobby Chacon vs Rafael Limon 4 from 1982. Absolutely epic battle. Honestly might be the best fight I’ve ever seen. It’s up there anyway. Ring Magazine had it as FOTY and even that almost doesn’t seem enough to do it justice.

That YouTube channel is a goldmine for old Boxing fights in pretty much the best quality you’re gonna find. Meant to plug that channel in here ages ago. The guy uploads regularly as well. Worth a sub.

Tyson Fury turned up at Ricky Hatton’s funeral today in a suit with pictures of himself all over it.

He’s as bad as his old man at this point. Everything’s gotta be about him. But desperately trying to be the ‘main event’ at someone else’s funeral is next level pathetic.

He reminds me off Mayweather Jnr where he knows he is done as top level fighter but can't give up the limelight.

I'm not looking forward to the Tyson Fury exhibition fights era.

The Inoue/Nakatani fight after this event is the fight I’ve been looking forward to for years.

I'm in two minds about Crawford retiring.

On one hand, he's in his late 30s and the Canelo win is a great way to end a career.

On the other, he lives the life of an athlete and has shown few signs of decline. It's probable that he has a few more masterful performances left in him.

I'd have liked him to pad out the numbers a bit more, just to beat that prick Mayweather's record. He's not far off 51-0.
