NeverYield Posted February 21 Posted February 21 Yes good post very much agree with you jim. Well lads one things for certain its certainly shaken the landscape up hasnt it and given us something to delve into over a cup of tea. Totally overshadowed Warrington & Wood aswell, that hasn't really had much of a push as it is.. Quote

Aye, that makes sense. We could probably speculate all day, but I will add that Mayweather has announced he's coming out of retirement properly after his exhibition bout with Tyson. Perhaps Mayweather vs Garcia/Benn is in the works? Quote

It appears that Zuffa could make it's UK debut in May, so perhaps they have thrown a 8 figure sum at Benn to please whichever UK TV network they are in talks with. I'd love to see the reaction to Connor being announced to headline over here now. Even against a foreign fighter i'd imagine he'd get boo'ed out the building. Best heel turn in ages. Quote
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted February 22 Author Paid Members Posted February 22 More moves from Zuffa. Not sure what Andy Ruiz brings to the table at this stage, but hes still a decent name. I saw the clip of Dana ripping into Eddie Hearn at last nights UFC presser, these two were on good terms a while back 😄 Get your popcorn ready🍿 Quote
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted February 22 Paid Members Posted February 22 Eddie’s already throwing out comments about how the UFC is treating Tom Aspinall terribly. Clearly trying to create some good relations with Tom to lay the groundwork for him to potentially jump to Matchroom at some point in the future. This is like the Monday Night Wars all over again. Quote
NeverYield Posted February 22 Posted February 22 Yeah he's bang on in that assessment as well, Aspinalls treatment is shocking. Also how can Dana give it all the 'Is their a bigger pussy and crybaby' than Eddie at that presser, and say Eddie cries over money and fighters, he literally doesn't let UFC and Zuffa fighters wear sponsors on their shorts, I'm sure he sulked his head off when Ngannou fought Fury, and has moaned about numerous other things that make him a hypocrite (like most of them are I know) but still, do these people not listen to themselves? Beyond money they have absolutely nothing about them at all, no substance or character, and whatever grit and determination they had that got them where they were has just faded into being about as fake as it gets. Always makes me laugh the weridos you get online who basically idolise these figures solely because of the money they generate like it actually has any meaningful bearing on their life whatsoever. Oh don’t get me started on that shit. It seems to be in everything as well. I don’t follow wrestling these days but will fairly regularly watch a clip from a shoot interview on YouTube or something if it interests me. You can almost guarantee if you look in the comments (I know, I shouldn’t!) there’ll be some wally going ‘this bum never drew a dime’. Why do they care? Even in music, I’ll often see twats talk about album sales as if that should matter to them rather than the quality of the songs. It’s such a miserable way to live. Pocket watching people who don’t even know you exist. Do these people watch a film and then go ‘wait, I’ll check what rating it got on Rotten Tomatoes before I decide whether I like it or not?’ Just incapable of forming an opinion of their own based on what they like, rather than just soullessly attaching themselves to what ‘sells’ and what’s popular. Anyway…yeah, Dana’s a fucking baby. Him calling anyone a pussy is rich considering how emotional he gets at even the slightest perceived criticism. Not to mention hitting his wife on camera. Biggest tantrum throwing manchild of a coward of a bully there ever was. Can’t wait for the day one of his fighters just has enough and goes full on Nailz on him backstage. Quote

And comment reading is like car crash TV isn't it, you know you shouldln't look, but you just can't help it. Yeah very miserable way to live. Dana is definitely a baby, can't see how he is not sitting there and being aware that all the things hes critiscising Hearn about is stuff he himself has done. Quote
NeverYield Posted February 25 Posted February 25 Yeah Frank doesn't give a fuck haha, he'll have a pop at anybody! Quote
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted February 25 Paid Members Posted February 25 I’m looking forward to Angry Frank returning. It’s one thing Boxing media has been missing since him and Hearn got on better terms. He didn’t really have a nemesis anymore at that point. This could be the start of something really entertaining. Frank and Eddie vs Dana and Turki in a tag team match please. Quote
jimufctna24 Posted February 25 Posted February 25 Turki has a new BFF every month seemingly. One of Thomas Hauser's sources reported a month or so ago that Dana and Turki were clashing - Zuffa Boxing says it will save the sport – but the fine print shows that fighters may pay the price | Boxing | The Guardian Btw, the article details the terms of the contracts that Zuffa are issuing boxers. Despite them overpaying for Benn, the other contracts they have offered to talent appear to be very restrictive/unrewarding when compared to the terms that other sports people work under. Zuffa are also lobbying to amend the Ali Act so that boxers have fewer protections and knowledge about revenue for which they can use while negotiating. It's an odd time when out of the three top worldwide boxing promoters, Frank fucking Warren is my favourite. Quote
d-d-d-dAz Posted February 26 Posted February 26 (edited) The interesting thing with Benn is, its reportedly a one fight deal. My guess (sort of educated, but i've been out of the game for a while) would be that Zuffa have a big UK TV deal (probably Sky, but could be TNT I guess. Doesnt really fit the TNT model) ready to announce, and felt they couldn't launch on a damp squib. They probably took a bigger fee from broadcast, and just funnelled that money to Conor to be their launch star. Edited February 26 by d-d-d-dAz Quote

jimufctna24 Posted February 26 Posted February 26 (edited) Saudi footed the 15 million dollar bill for Zuffa to sign Benn - TKO Exec: Saudi money funded Conor Benn’s Zuffa Boxing deal (sherdog.com) Everything it starting to make sense. Prograis is shot to bits iirc. I really hope Benn fighting him turns out to be a cherry pick gone wrong. Edited February 26 by jimufctna24 Quote
