Not a wrestler, but imagine tweeting out that Johnny Gargano is shit, being called out by Gargano himself, them being exposed as a complete wrong un by others.

Total wrestling logic in that if you liked someone ten years ago they can’t be shit now. Ban all the short insecure wrestlers and we have a better scene to invest in

I thought he had retired anyway, bar a couple of matches for mlw and impact

Didn’t he move to working or training as a fireman, or was that someone else and I'm getting mixed up with?

Either way never liked him in ring and he's always seemed a right cunt out of it too.

Scotty 2 Hotty became a fireman.

Richards tried to train as a paramedic, which didn’t seem to be going very well when he tried picking Paul London up by the head after full-force stomping on it during a match for ROH

Hasn't it been well known that Richards is one of the biggest dickhead in wrestling, and that goes a hell of a long way? He fucked off for a few years after everyone was done with his shit last time. The guy idolises Dynamite Kid, seems like in more ways than one.

Sky Digital will be giving him a call next.

He returned relatively recently, and seemed to be more level-headed and less bothered about his "legit reputation" than he used to be. There was a minor manufactured scandal when it came out he'd done some gay porn, and the way he handled that (basically saying, "yeah, so what?" and being broadly inclusive and sex-positive) made people think he'd probably matured a bit in his absence.

But obviously he's still a dickhead, and OTT took the coward's option of still booking him the day this all came out and other promotions had cut ties with him, and then expect plaudits for cancelling his other bookings only after he said he was retiring.

I saw someone spin it about how the story broke after the event had started. I take it that wasn’t the case?

Sean Ross Sapp tweeted at 19:05 that Fightful were looking into the situation after Richards had been pulled from shows, his social media deleted, companies distancing themselves from him. At 19:48 he confirmed it was connected to allegations of domestic abuse.

The story was starting to circulate before that - Prestige Wrestling's tweet announcing they were cutting ties with Davey was 17:55. Doxxy tweeted court transcripts at 17:44, in response to questions about what was going on with Davey Richards.

Wrestling Observer reported on Richards' statement about the allegations at 21:17.

The OTT show started at somewhere around 19:30, going by the hashtag. So about an hour and a half after the court records were made public, and after most promotions had sacked him off. The most generous reading is that it was before SRS specifically mentioned domestic abuse, but the story was out there. You might think that somebody backstage could have had a word.

Davey Richards' match took place around 22:00, so not only hours after the story took place (and presumably after intermission, if the promotion had wanted to make the necessary last-minute changes), but 45 minutes after Davey Richards' statement was published. It genuinely looks like he was writing it backstage at OTT before his match.
