I got my "Your bills are going up again" today and through working out my usage will be paying around £2300 for the year for electricity and gas. This is for a busy household where the washer/dryer is on every day. Working it all out, £300 of that £2300 is for standing charges. Contact your providers, then the CAB if possible and if you ring Manchester City Council there should be some department in there that may be able to help with power costs given your circumstances.
