Depressingly, that’s probably why Sami’s been given the belt again. Whilst Cody, Punk and Roman continue to swing their dicks about, Sami probably said, “yes,” to losing to Roman even quicker than he said, “yes,” to the pay cut.

For all my ups and downs with CM Punk, I have never empathised with anyone more than I have watching CM Punk gasping for air in the altitude of Mexico City. The man looks half dead wrestling at sea level, for Christ's sake.

I saw an article saying Zayn is not world champion material but surely that's the whole point?

He is an updated version of The Honky Tonk Man. You know that everyone he wrestles can kick his arse and beat him - and you want to see them do it - but he somehow gets away with the title and that just pisses you off even more because you're sat there going "How is this guy the champion?!".

Sami's great in any role they give him. And the fact there are so many guys after him, plus he's manipulating the Garganos etc, it's a far more interesting main event scene than what they've got on Raw.

I've only watched the YouTube highlights but I've got to say the best thing in them was the slap that Giulia laid on Blake Monroe in their backstage shenanigans. Sounded like a rifle.

It’s quite something when you look at the average age of WWE main event male wrestlers right now. The youngest ever World Heavyweight Champion in the current iteration of the belt is 36, in Seth Rollins - and he turned 37 the day after winning it.

Assuming my maths is right, the last time someone aged under 30 held the WWE title was Bray Wyatt in 2017, with the second youngest being Jinder Mahal that same year at 31. In the 2020s, almost every WWE champion has been aged closer to 40. 

They need a dramatic shift, a refreshing of the roster. Age doesn’t necessarily matter of course, but when the vast majority of your older wrestlers feel stale it certainly does. Perhaps it’s a ‘me’ thing, but I can’t view any potential match between almost any upper carder on Smackdown without feeling massively uninspired. I hope they take a chance on Trick Williams sooner rather than later. A feud with a heel Punk or Cody could be the perfect antidote to the current malaise.

Adam Copeland and CM Punk both booked for ladder matches in 2026 is certainly something to see.
