Paid Members Chilly McFreeze Posted July 2, 2019 Paid Members Share Posted July 2, 2019 So, the Woman's World Cup then. Can't see this being discussed anywhere here, figured this was the best place for it. What do we all make of it so far, how do we feel about the Semi Final tonight? I've really enjoyed watching the handful of games I've managed to catch. The standard from the top teams is pretty good, but there seems to be 2 areas that are well below par, one is the refereeing (although it's improved since the group games), and the other is the general quality of the passing. Even the top teams seem to throw a lot of wayward passes around, especially when playing out from midfield. Not confident of England's chances tonight though. I think they peaked against a poor Norway team.
Paid Members PunkStep Posted July 2, 2019 Paid Members Share Posted July 2, 2019 Looking forward to this. USA are a different animal BUT England managed to avoid defeat against them in the SheBelieves Cup. If they can improve on that, and I don't think it's behind the realms of possibility, then they're through. They need Steph Houghton to be as commanding and life saving as she was against Norway (especially as Millie Bright is a bit of a liability) when you have Alex Morgan and co coming at you. Bit of a silver lining if England lost is that this tournament could then belong to Megan Rapinoe- who is awesome.

Moderators PowerButchi Posted July 2, 2019 Moderators Share Posted July 2, 2019 England were unlucky. America are beasts at the sport. Good to see a good and physical game too.

Paid Members PunkStep Posted July 12, 2019 Paid Members Share Posted July 12, 2019 Griezmann has signed for Barca after they triggered his €120m buyout clause. The clause dropped to this amount after 1st July, prior to this it was €200m. Atleti, clutching at straws, are now looking to take legal action against Barca. They feel Barca wanted the player before 1st July, but deliberately waited until after that date so they wouldn't have to pay as much....well, yeah! Don't put a release clause in his contract then, you blithering idiots!
Paid Members seph Posted July 12, 2019 Paid Members Share Posted July 12, 2019 If they can prove Barca's agents talked to Griez before 01/07 in any capacity they might have a leg.

Mr_Danger
It's against the law not to put a release clause in his contract over there as well. Where they done gone fucked up was having it tiered so the price drops, Spurs are in the same position with Toby Longname. You can see why At(h)letico are pissed off, it's like Barca give no fucks about tapping up anymore. Unless they had permission.
Paid Members PunkStep Posted July 12, 2019 Paid Members Share Posted July 12, 2019 Are there even rules regarding tapping up players etc these days? Everyone does it. Players agree personal terms before clubs agree fee and terms these days.

AdamTH17
Over in Spain, La Liga has just kicked off with Aduriz coming off the bench and scoring a brilliant overhead kick to win it in the 90th minute for Bilbao against Barcelona. No less than what they deserved, either. Argue that they deserved to go into half-time a goal up, and then defended brilliantly in the second half. Can't think of a decent chance they allowed Barcelona. Their midfield and attack looks disjointed as it is at the moment, can't imagine how they'll shape it if they end up bringing Neymar in as well. Could be the footballing version of too many cooks in the kitchen.
Little Johnny
Yeah, when I saw Barcelona finish the game with an attacking axis of Ousmane Dembele, Thiago Alacantara's younger brother and a winger from the B Team, my immediate reaction was also "too many cooks in the kitchen".
