It’s a coronation for Khabib at this point. It’ll go on second to last, and it’ll be an embarrassment. They almost have to book Khabib/Tony again at this point.

Felder is suggesting the commission have blocked it because he’s ranked so low.

This event is a joke now. They’d be better off earning some goodwill and whacking it on fight pass.

They won't cancel the entire event will they? Worst case scenario they just turn it into a Fight Night card with Joanna/Rose II headlining you'd think.

Yep, but the damage is already done. It might not happen soon but he won't be the last MMA fighter to outgrow the company and this will happen again unless they learn and make changes.

Has he outgrown the company though? Really? I mean, say they sack him off after this, what does he do then? Go to WWE? Box? Start his own promotion? Or more than likely, just cut about doing fuck all of note?

The problem with McG at the moment is that he's made the mistake of thinking that the mega-bucks drawn in by the Mayweather fight somehow means he's on that kind of level now, and that he's operating on that kind of playing field.

He isn't. If he chose to box again against someone such as Paulie he's not getting anywhere near that kind of dough again. Not a chance. And once he gets spanked again that's pretty much him done on that front.

What else is there for him? WWE? How much can they really do with a 5'9, 150lb dude on a long-term basis? Would it work short-term as a special appearance? Probably, but beyond that? I don't think so.

So, beyond that he's got starting his own promotion in Ireland, or continuing to do what he's done for the past six or seven months, which is fuck all. That's the route he'd likely go down. He'll appear in the media now & then, whilst pissing the money he's made away by being a daft sod.

Basically, he's made the same mistake on a grander scale that Nate has made, as he seems to think that because the fight between him & McGregor drew big in MMA terms that he's somehow operating at that level as well.

Both of them are deluded.

McGregor is already earning close to what the UFC could realistically pay him for fighting in the company. There's a ceiling, and he's too fucking stupid to see it.

He has more than enough money in his bank account, and it was the UFC who helped him get it. Now he has to either knuckle down and accept what is a reasonable offer from the UFC and get back to doing what he does best, or piss off for good.

Dana and the UFC have been super-lenient with him, affording him a lot more time off than they would any other champion. He needs to recognise that and behave accordingly.

What the utter arse is happening?

Thank fook we've still got Rose v Joanna on this Enola Gay of a card. Sucks for Khabib, but they should maybe just do Holloway v Khabib on the next show. 6 days to suck out all that weight was always a bit mad, at least they have time to give the fight the build it deserves.

He has because he doesnt need to do anything at all. He earnt more in one night than he would have done fighting thirty times for the ufc. They pay far too poorly to avoid situations like this and letting mcgregor fight floyd only proved that further.

By some accounts it seems like they have lowballed Pettis too about stepping into the Khabib fight. UFC is great for fans but they need to stop treating their fighters so poorly because they will wise up eventually.

Al Iaquinta is still wanting the fight and hes ranked at #11 in the Lightweight rankings... Felder wasn’t ranked at all.

Why won’t they just give him the fight?

He kept his boxers on and weighed an ounce over. They declared his weight there and then, not thinking they’d need an extra 2 hours to reach championship weight, so he fucked off and drank/ate and presumably ballooned up.

Khabib will only fight for the title.

If by "outgrowing the UFC" you mean he can afford to go home and do fuck all, then yeah, fair enough. I assumed you meant that he'd outgrown them in the respect that he could go out into the world and do something else and earn more than he would fighting, or earn more elsewhere, which I don't think he can.

At the end of the day, he makes something like $3 million base which jumps to around $7 million if his fight sells more than a million buys. Dana says the company were looking to put a deal together for him this week, which would take his base earnings to closer to $5 million or so reportedly.

So, he'd likely be looking at not far off $10 million per fight all things considered. And I think my estimations may be on the conservative side, so anyone who knows different can feel free to jump in if they like.

Like I said, that money he earned against Floyd was a one-off. It's not happening for him again, ever.

So, his options are to either take the very generous amount that the UFC are offering, or fuck off.

I agree with the second paragraph, but the first bit is missing the point. The UFC can't pay its fighters what McGregor got from boxing - MMA isn't that big, it doesn't draw anywhere near the money boxing does. Yes, McGregor doesn't need to do anything per se, but if he wants to make a living from fighting, then he does need to accept that he isn't going to get the money he got from fighting Mayweather in MMA. He also needs to accept that, whilst he makes money for the UFC, that's only true so long as he's still fighting. Carping from the sidelines while doing fuck-all won't get him anything, because it doesn't get the UFC anything.

Basically, whatever he got from fighting Floyd is irrelevant. The UFC can't pay boxing money, and McGregor can't make any more of a living from boxing than he has done so far. So he should either retire and enjoy what he's made, and make his money from other means, or shut up and get on with fighting for what he can get from MMA.
