In a way it serves them fucking right. That's what you get for letting a guy hold onto a title indefinitely with no intention of defending the bastard thing. Hopefully they learn from this and don't make that mistake again. The lightweight title situation should've been cleared up a long time ago but the UFC top bollocks were too busy pussyfooting around trying not to upset McGregor. And look where that's got them.

Agreed. Hopefully, if this event has any benefit, it's a big wake-up call for a lot of parties involved.

A wake up call for Conor that he can't get away with playing gangster and thinking he runs the company, a wake up for Dana that a fighter should never become bigger than the company and a demonstration for all other MMA promotions on how to not handle this sort of situation.

What we'll get now is the main event scratched and the co main pushed up, and in a few weeks Dana will announce that Khabib vs Conor is being pencilled in for just after summer.

McG goes from being done to making more money than ever, Tweeting furiously about how he runs the show, how he does what he wants and so on. Forward to the fight, Khabib gets injured or doesn't make weight, and Dana White jumps from the window of a tall casino in Vegas whilst heard screaming "fuck you, McGregor!!!" as his last words.

MMA can't grow any further without stars and stars aren't going to get out of bed for the kind of money UFC pays its fighters. McGregor is their biggest ever star and he earnt three times in one night what he had fighting for the UFC. Why would he defend the title if he didn't need to? The only reason he has for fighting for the UFC again is to try and get out of his contract as soon as possible but with 3 or 4 fights to go is that even worth the risk?
