Gambling adverts are spreading like a fucking plague on TV these days, they're everywhere, they're poisonous and to add insult they're always fucking terrible. Paddy Power do some moderately funny ones I suppose, but the hundred other online bookies, casinos and bingo sites trot out some utter shite. I still don't see any good reason why they should be allowed to advertise gambling on TV.

The latest Argos adverts piss me off good and proper. The lady voicing the advert doesn't know whether she wants to be shouty or wispy and the mixture of both grates especially if its on an unskipable youtube advert.

Part of me wishes Argos sell shotguns when I hear it.

Edit: The lady in question is Miquita Oliver, former T4 presenter. Now I know why I can't stand that voice.

Fragrance adverts are indeed woeful. The current one with a in his mid 50's Johnny Depp poncing about in a desert and wearing eyeliner is especially wanktastic.

I don't want to see any middle aged blokes wearing eye liner unless they are appearing in Rocky Horror, or facing Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania.

Anyway.

I actually don't mind perfume ads. It's hard to sell something you can't see or hear so they just go for glamorous nonsense which I agree can be silly but I'd rather watch that than nearly anything other ads consist of.

There was one doing the rounds on radio Dry January/Dryathalon or whatever the fuck they're calling it. It's much in the vain of the Hive Heating ad, it's some pillock playing a ukulele spouting drivel. The are so many similarities, it has to be by the same ad agency

Yeah, that one actually inspired me to drink more this month.

'Radio X' (rubbish name) is clogged up with a load of these things.

Is it the done thing in the industry to make the ads as annoying as possible? I get it in that it makes them memorable, but equally these ads actively put me off spending any more with the companies, so surely they're counterproductive?

Fucking hell, those Ladbrokes ones are awful. I watched one this morning, put me in a right shitty mood. Surely missing a trick by not rebranding themselves as Ladblokes.
