Paid Members chokeout Posted January 10, 2018 Paid Members Share Posted January 10, 2018 Today I learned that professional old man Dick Van Dyke has a mild obsession with special effects, taught himself 3D animation and created CGI effects for Diagnosis Murder in his house. World-shattering news, I know. https://www.theguardian.com/media/2018/jan/10/jo-whiley-simon-mayo-drivetime-bbc-radio-2-revamp I'm so relieved. Without fail I put the radio on and it's that weirdo organ stuff and I put my head under a pillow like Gromit. But at the same time, BBC should be about providing airtime for niche stuff. So kinda torn. I'd say just move it online but their audience probably isn't digital.
Paid Members Gus Mears Posted January 10, 2018 Paid Members Share Posted January 10, 2018 No moral ambiguity needed with this one Onyx. Organ hour was a steaming pile and the worst thing on Radio 2.
Keith Houchen
Careful now, you'll summon the dreaded spectre of Richie Freebird with all this Radio 2 shite hour.

A bumper edition of Organist Entertains, followed up with 8 hours of 'Best of the Shipping Forecast'. Bliss... Paid Members Sergio Mendacious Posted January 10, 2018 Paid Members Share Posted January 10, 2018 Maybe Richie will shell out some of his racetrack earnings on a station for all the niche genres; four hour maringa marathons, and the like. Paid Members Gus Mears Posted January 10, 2018 Paid Members Share Posted January 10, 2018 Ending every day of programming by yelling "FREEBIRD OUT". This could already be a thing. You just know Richie has a HAM radio.
Paid Members Sergio Mendacious Posted January 10, 2018 Paid Members Share Posted January 10, 2018 Breaker Breaker, this is Barrowbird500 — there's a hot sass shipment headed onto the penisula, shout it from the rooftop. FREEBIRD OUT!

Paid Members Gus Mears Posted January 11, 2018 Paid Members Share Posted January 11, 2018 (edited) Think I have said before that age based trivia (this person was born before x, y , z, this person is still alive etc..) is something I find fascinating. This absolutely blew me away: It's incredible in its own right. But even more than that, it's the fact that it's the Grandchildren of someone of real importance. Awards Moderator Onyx2 Posted January 11, 2018 Awards Moderator Share Posted January 11, 2018 Tis a shameless rip from a Reddit thread discussing president lifespans. That was really interesting though. Ever the dullard, I made a PM one. Look at fucking Gladstone go!
Paid Members Carbomb Posted January 12, 2018 Paid Members Share Posted January 12, 2018 That's very good, although shouldn't there be multiple green blocks for those with multiple premierships (like the above did for Grover Cleveland)? I know it seems trivial, but it is interesting to see how the likes of Russell and the Duke of Portland had massive gaps between their terms of office, and how late in life they got back into the job. Thatcher's block is depressing for me to look at.

Interesting, I got this from Wikipedia which totals their time in office. I'll check and revise.
Paid Members Kaz Hayashi Posted January 20, 2018 Paid Members Share Posted January 20, 2018 (edited) TIL.. that Reba McEntire (Titos cousin who sang at Wrestlemania) was also in one of my favourite childhood movies Tremors. Paid Members Carbomb Posted January 20, 2018 Paid Members Share Posted January 20, 2018 (edited) She was?! Bloody hell, never pegged. EDIT: Ah, I see why. Whenever I saw her singing, she was quite glammed up, whereas in Tremors they've made her look more normal and a bit dishevelled.
