That is, as those words exactly. There are older versions from ancient Mesopotamia ("the word is mightier than the sword") and in Islam ("the ink of the scholar is holier than the blood of the martyr"), but this particular phrasing was by a British playwright called Lytton. Paid Members Lorne Malvo Posted August 18 Paid Members Posted August 18 Apparently, 'preheat your oven' means leave it on 10 or 15 minutes and then the oven will either emit a noise or the little LED light will come on to let you know it's preheated. I must have undercooked every meal I've ever prepared in my life because I thought it meant 'put it on for 2 minutes just to warm up before bunging everything in.' What I don't get is if I should've been preheating my oven another 10 minutes, how does half of what I cook end up burned anyway?! Quote

You can get away with not pre heating the oven for stuff. The window for food being properly cooked is pretty big. For the shit that I cook anyway. Quote
