I'm down this week for the night so will hopefully make it to the Holborn Whippet as they have Kernel there, the one they have on at the moment is 7% though! I was there a few weeks ago and just had some Lagunitas IPA which was wonderful. Then I had to go round to the Square Pig, it was downhill from there.

I've only had the simcoe Kernel beer. It was ok. Not as good as Brewdog.

A couple of good ales i've recently had from the Beermoth shop in Manchester if you like your strong beers:

Thornbridge Imperial Raspberry Stout which is around 9% and DE Molens "Bommen and Granaten" which is a barley wine at 15.2% goes down a great treat. Also one i had in Bury this weekend that is from a new Bury brewery "Silver Street Brewery" called Ruby Ruby Ruby Ruby like a red ale but very smooth.

I have just heard that within the week both The Solid Rock Cafe and Rufus T Firefly in Glasgow are going to have on tap Williams Bros Joker IPA. I like it as a good session IPA.

Anyone had anything from Wierd Beard? Got a bottle of their Marianas Trench as well as a bottle of some Japanese brewery that I mentioned a while back.

Truth is I'm going to neck them once I've run out of Stella in a few hours. Won't have a clue what they're like.

Has anyone been to the specialist craft beer shop Beermoth in Manchester? I'm going to it in two months time and hope to pick up some rarities in craft beer if anyone can recommend something from its shop that would be most appreciated.

Regards

I would definetely look for the 6 or so beers from de molen that they sell in the beermoth. Another couple i rated was fraoch heather ale and the thornbridge hall raspberry stout. Quite a lot of the expensive stuff is on the middle table but well worth the trip to it. Can easily come away spending a bit of brass but its rewarding.

There's a Glasgow Wetherspoons exclusive running just now that Oakham Ales have a tap takeover running the next while. I like Citra and Inferno and green devil IPA.

I picked that up my my local Aldi the other day, It's in the beer cupboard somewhere so I've not given it a go yet.

Not normally a lager drinker, but was in Sam Smith's The Angel in central London yesterday evening, and they had something new on - Double Four Lager. Tried some, and it's really not bad at all; instead of that soapy flavour a lot of lager has, it had a really grainy, cereal-like flavour which gave it quite some depth. A little on the gassy side, but very drinkable otherwise.

Do you drink in any of the other Sam Smiths' pubs? I go to the Princess Louise and occasionally the citie of york in Holborn. We're moving to a new office in Aldermanbury square in a few months time so will be looking for a new "local" for when I'm down south.

There are a couple of good ones in Soho - the Glassblowers Arms even has a Bar Billiards game there, which is a bit of fun. The Angel that Carbomb mentioned really is a good one, though. It's just off Shaftesbury Avenue and has a few different rooms. Nice, old pub that's just enough out of the way.
